Hi, not sure where to post this but I'm sure it will get moved if needed. Question: with the arrival of TSW7 will DTG still support 6 or has this now stopped? I'm sure I'm not alone I have gone back to TSW6 due to the various problems TSW7 came with ie camera control, text increase, as the title states I'm on PS5.
The lack of continued breaking of things is why I have stuck with TSW6, so it being end of life is fine by me, I can live with that tradeoff.
Same here, saying that I just changed over from the PS5 slim to the pro and what a difference the change over made,
Exactly this! Now you haven't to be afraid for receiving a "patch" which break things. Plus you have a normal hud size in normal colors, no overly bright menu, no broken AI conducter and correctly working camera on controller. At the time the enhanced lighting for console arrives, I will see in what the state TSW7 is by then. I'm not planning to buy any TSW7 route too at this moment, I will see if the new Dutch route and the new Just Trains one is worth to switch over. Blackpool branches is the only older route I don't own and like to play, but it can wait.
Here is a shot from my DLC, Medway is far the best route, and believe it or not one a realy enjoy is the Isle of Wight 2022 route not to far route just enough to kill half hour or so and runs beautifully on PS5 Pro. Mind you they all do.
Bro you've got the SWEET UK DLC's, I'm still waiting for a sale so that I can cop all of these.. But Christmas is soon approaching so..
Controller is the #1 thing keeping me on TSW6. TSW7 is literally unplayable for me.The stick inputs are all over the place at random. If they don't revert it back to how it was I am a permanently lost customer, and I don't think I will be the only one.
I got the free trial and had a hard time even getting a train moving, because of the inconsistent speed of the sticks making it hard to select the controls I wanted, and walking around was just impossible with the constant stop-starting. Not to mention the free cam moving at warp speed, just teleporting into scenery.
Re: The stop-starting, took me a while to work out that this happens if you don't have the left stick pointing directly forwards. If you move even slightly to one side it slows you down. I'd guess that whoever implemented this is used to PC gaming with a mouse and keyboard and uses the right stick to turn, but I tend to instinctively use the left stick for minor "course corrections" leading to that exact stop-start behaviour you mentioned. Maybe everyone figured this out already, but I thought I'd mention for anyone that hasn't.
It's because they are imbeciles and only implemented the acceleration curve in 4 directions instead of 8. I get the same problem on the right stick looking around.
You know, the analog sticks are analog for a reason. You don't have to jam it all the way in one direction. One problem solved right there. Just saying. Easy "problem" to solve. I like having the option for fast movement and I don't seem to have this issue. Just need a light touch.
One of my sticks has a 10% drift on it, and if I disable the deadzone, that alone without me pressing it causes the camera to fly off at lightning speed faster than I can control. The sensitivity on the free cam is borked to hell. The free cam does not seem to use the same sensitivity curve as the movement and looking in first person, it's a far more aggressive one that maxes out almost instantaneously..
There is no difference between basic ps5 and the pro. DTG have done nothing to increase the performance or any pro enhancements. I came from the basic to the pro and it's the same. Yes one or two routes play ok but most of the routes play poorly. Stations are the worst with low fps. And to get any kind of performance you have to switch all the layers of.
In theory you're right, but controllers are mostly not used like this in games and with a reason. With such a small stick, it's hard to do small movements because you need to push or pull it only a few millimeters. It was perfectly fine in previous TSW editions but we have no options to use it in the same way as it was in those previous versions. At least give users the option to choose the new and the old way.
No they are not No new patches for it All new routes are under the TSW7 banner although there is one bit of good news for you. You can Transfer over all your TSW6 DLC over into TSW7
I have no idea what you're talking about as reply on my post. I was talking about the new camera control in TSW7, as a lot of people don't seem to like it and no option to choose for the old camera control we're used to. And the question about end of support for TSW6 was already answered above.
In my case I have a replacement stick on one of my controllers that has has really poor tilt range, only starting about half way into the tilt. It's fine for most games actually, since as noted, very few games actually demand really precise movement of the analog stick. But it would likely cause an issue on something like this with how it's implemented Also, just in general if you're new to games analog sticks are kind of hard to use. I remember being young and struggling to deal with tilting the analog stick for slow movement in games like Mario 64. And even now, while I can do that better, analog sticks are just generally not great for precise aiming. The mouse is the default for shooters, or other aim heavy games. And even if you're talking games which absolutely need a controller, using the gyroscope for small movements and leaving the analog for large, broad ones is much better. And this is not even a opinion really, analog sticks on their own objectively can't aim as well as either mouse or gyro aim if you look up videos comparing them. Which goes to the point "just tilt the analog stick less" is not a valid response for badly tuned controls.
The new camera should very clearly have been set up to either progressively speed up to warp factor 9, or speed up instantly only if you're holding a specific combination of buttons when you move the joystick. I play on PC using a PS3 controller with 30-something buttons mapped to it using mode shifts, so that I can play without ever needing the keyboard. In TSW6 I had configured it so that L1 emulated the Shift key, which on PC sped up the camera): Joystick: moves camera Joystick + Triangle + L1: moves camera with much haste This no longer works in TSW7 as a single press of the Shift key seems to permanently slow the camera down, until you switch to another camera and switch back again... I don't even understand how the camera got through playtesting, it's the same on the map view, it shoots off at full speed and I think it does that even if you gently nudge the joystick... JB
I can understand them releasing the new camera controls if they had tested them with a competition pro joystick released in 1983 but controllers these days are analogue and don't just operate in an up, down, left, right mode. I have no idea how this could have passed testing. Actually, I can if there is no testing like everything else.
The fact that the acceleration goes to zero the instant you add any degree of diagonal movement is straight up motion sickness inducing. How they were unable to configure it for eight movement directions in the year of our lord twenty twenty six is beyond me.
