    Add-ons Up Ahead

It's been a short while since our last Roadmap, and with all the excitement from the release of Train Sim World 7, we've now got a huge range of updates and details to share from our TSW partners and development teams at Dovetail!

Announcing the DB BR 323 Köf II from TSG!
Sometimes great things come in small packages. The DB BR 323, also known as the Köf II, is currently being developed by Train Sim Germany and their team has a short and sweet overview of what’s to come.

TSG: “These compact diesel shunters were designed for the everyday work of moving wagons around stations and sidings. Their modest size made them useful for jobs that didn’t need a larger locomotive, and we’re looking forward to bringing that side of railway operations to Train Sim World.“
    [IMG]
TSG: “Our Köf II is being developed primarily for Neckartalbahn (more on this below!), where it will have 54 timetable services, alongside scenarios on the route. Its addition also brings 11 extra freight workings for the BR 140, so there will be plenty of activity for both locomotives.”
TSG: “This month’s first development screenshots give you an early look at the model. We’ll share more about its features and duties as development progresses.”

Neckartalbahn: Heidelberg - Neckarelz from TSG
Originally revealed during our 2025 Season Of Reveals event, and further expanded upon in the August 2026 Roadmap, Train Sim Germany has more details on this scenic route through the Neckar valley in southwest Germany – including new screenshots of the BR 23 steam loco!

TSG: "Neckartalbahn is getting closer! The route itself is now largely finished, and the timetable is complete. Our remaining work is focused on finishing the rolling stock and polishing the overall experience."

TSG: "With all supporting add-ons, including the upcoming Köf II, the timetable will offer around 270 playable services, with further workings to follow when the V100 releases. This month, we’d like to share more about what will be keeping you busy between Heidelberg and Neckarelz."

TSG: "The included locomotives provide 137 playable services. The BR 140 handles 70 passenger and shunting services, alongside 34 freight workings. The BR 23 contributes another 31 passenger and shunting services and two freight workings. Additional AI movements bring activity to Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof, its freight yard and Neckarelz."

TSG: "For players with other add-ons in their collection, the timetable has considerably more to offer:"
    • E94: Three additional passenger services and ten freight workings, alongside further AI traffic at Heidelberg and Neckarelz.
    • BR 218: Another 22 passenger services and eight freight workings, plus AI traffic in Heidelberg. It can also substitute into a small selection of other workings.
    • Linke Rheinstrecke: Six playable D-City services with the BR 103, accompanied by DC, IC and TEE trains appearing as AI traffic at Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof.
    • Mittenwaldbahn: Three playable BR 111 shunting services and additional AI traffic in Heidelberg. The BR 111 can also substitute into many BR 140 services.
    • Mittenwaldbahn and E94 together: Five further E94 freight services and nine BR 140 freight services, using the available freight wagons from both add-ons and Neckartalbahn. This combination also adds more AI activity to Heidelberg’s freight yard.

TSG: "The Köf II services described above form another part of this expanded timetable, bringing more shunting activity and additional BR 140 freight workings to the route. Alongside the railway traffic, tram services add another element to the area’s everyday activity.

TSG: "There is more to come with the V100. Its Neckartalbahn services are still being developed, with approximately 20–30 passenger workings and 10–20 freight workings currently planned. These figures may grow as development continues, and the services will become available when the V100 add-on releases."

TSG: "We’re looking forward to showing you more of Neckartalbahn as we complete the remaining rolling-stock work and finishing touches."

DB BR 212 V100 from TSG
Since all good things come in threes, here is one more update from Train Sim Germany on one of their projects: the DB BR 212 V100. Lets see what they’ve been cooking up since we originally announced it back in August.

TSG: "This month, we’re sharing the first development screenshots of our DB BR 212!"

TSG: "Part of the West German V100 family, the BR 212 was designed for mixed passenger and freight duties on branch lines, alongside lighter mainline workings. It’s a locomotive well suited to the kind of railway we enjoy bringing to Train Sim World."

TSG: "Our BR 212 will arrive as a locomotive add-on for Niddertalbahn, accompanied by n-Wagen coaches and a new timetable. Together, they will bring locomotive-hauled passenger workings to the route and give you a fresh reason to return to the line. Niddertalbahn won’t be its only destination, either: we’re also developing V100 services for Neckartalbahn, which we’ll talk more about below. For now, enjoy this first look at the locomotive as development continues!"

Announcing the ATSF Warbonnet GP60M & GP60B from High Iron Simulations
TSW7 projects are humming at developer High Iron Simulations! Here is an update from the High Iron crew:

HIS: "High Iron Simulations will soon be bringing more motive power – and exciting Southern California railroading gameplay – to TSW with its upcoming Santa Fe/BNSF GP60M/GP60B Warbonnet Loco Pack."

HIS: "This pack will feature the popular Electro-Motive GP60M in original Santa Fe and BNSF Warbonnet liveries, joined by the GP60B in striking Santa Fe colors. As detailed in the recent Dovetail Live article "Born for the Super Fleet" the Electro-Motive GP60M and cabless sister GP60B were constructed at the request of the Santa Fe for high-priority intermodal services and reintroduced the railroad’s famous and fabulous “Warbonnet” red, silver, and yellow livery."

HIS: "Recalling both the AT&SF and BNSF eras, the upcoming Loco Pack will include expansive gameplay including a BNSF-era services TT and selection of scenarios on the Cajon Pass route. In addition, a variety of “bonus” scenarios will be included for operations on the TSW San Bernardino route. And for those who own High Iron’s Santa Fe on Cajon GamePlay Pack, bonus scenarios will also feature AT&SF-era operations on famed Cajon Pass. Content for this pack is complete and testing underway for a TSW7 release."

Southern Pacific Ore Lines: Hayden Branch from High Iron Simulations
The High Iron Simulations team have more news for you, with an update on the Southern Pacific Ore Lines: Hayden Branch. Included are many screenshots of the finished GP35 in the Southern Pacific livery making its way through Arizona.

HIS: "The route and accompanying rolling stock is now complete and in testing and refinement for its TSW7 release. Legendary for its heavy-haul railroading amid dramatic Western desert scenery, Southern Pacific’s Hayden Branch linked the sprawling open-pit copper mine at Ray, Arizona, to copper smelter and mill facilities at Hayden, Arizona."

HIS: "The 20 tortuous route miles between Ray and Hayden served as an always bustling artery over which the railroad lugged millions of tons of copper ore from mine to mill, and, in return, hauled finished copper anode castings outbound. The Hayden Branch connected at Ray Junction with the remainder of the Southern Pacific system via SP’s Tucson Division."

HIS: "Power for the Ore Lines route will be the Electro-Motive 2,500-horsepower GP35 wearing Southern Pacific’s scarlet and gray livery and wearing both SP and Cotton Belt lettering. Serving on the opposite end of the trains from the GP35 will be SP’s C-30-4 steel bay-window caboose with full interior. All-new rolling stock includes the line’s distinctive side-dump ore gondolas, acid tank cars, and copper anode flatcars."

HIS: "An extensive 24/7 service timetable and robust selection of realistic scenarios will keep the railroad bustling and the challenges to you as an engineer compelling. The TSW7 route will also be “Freight Hauler” enabled."

NJ TRANSIT® Bergen Line from Dovetail Games
As the other recently announced project developed by Dovetail Games, the work on NJ TRANSIT® Bergen Line is continuing and coming along nicely.

To quickly summarise: this new experience for the USA, with a diesel-only, scenic and action-packed journey out of Hoboken, will bring an all-new GP40PH-2B diesel locomotive to drive, and also new Comet V stock, with the Cab Car and Comet V trailers.
At this time, we don’t have any screenshots to show just yet but be sure to follow our future Roadmaps for further updates.

    Birmingham-Shrewsbury from All Aboard Studios
Get an exclusive first look at the sights and sounds of All Aboard Studios’ next route, with a short video directly from their team, along with more information and some new screenshots.

AABS: "For this month's update, we wanted to put the focus on the core train for Birmingham to Shrewsbury, a train that has operated along this route for around 30 years and formed the backbone of long-distance rail travel across Wales for many years, the Transport for Wales Class 158/8."

AABS: "Built completely from scratch, our Class 158/8 includes a brand-new set of onboard announcements, recreated to be as close to the real experience as possible, Train Faults, an interactive ERTMS Level 0 display and AI Guard functionality. It also features an entirely new sound set recorded onboard the units themselves across a series of dedicated recording trips, which took our team as far as the west coast of Wales to ensure we captured everything we needed."

AABS: "The Class 158/8 will feature across two packed timetables, offering plenty of variety behind the controls. Whether you fancy a semi-fast run from Shrewsbury to Birmingham, a Sunday stopping service or an ECS movement, there will be plenty to get stuck into and hours of gameplay aboard one of the UK's long-serving DMUs as the real fleet approaches the end of its time with Transport for Wales."

AABS: "We're really excited to bring this new take on the Class 158 to Train Sim World and to see it running across Birmingham to Shrewsbury. There's still plenty more to show from both the train and the route, including more of the unique gameplay and features we're building into the experience."

AABS: "Stay tuned to future Roadmaps as we get closer to release, where we'll be taking a deeper look at Birmingham to Shrewsbury and everything you can expect when you take to the rails!"

    Lisbon-Setúbal from VirtuaVia360
Up next is the VirtuaVia360 team, sharing some exclusive impressions with a video of the UQE 3500 EMU and how it is set up for service. Introduced back in 2025, Lisbon - Setúbal will be the first Portuguese route in Train Sim World.

VV360: "Hello everyone, Today we bring you a new video where you can listen to the new sounds of the UQE 3500 and also get a sneak peek at how the train is set up for service. Recently, our team made another trip to record sounds at Coina Depot, where Fertagus provided us with a train to capture the missing sounds."

VV360: "The sounds were recorded with the help of ambisonic microphones, allowing us to capture all the details in the train's interiors. Currently, we are finishing the last touches on the train sounds and progressing with the work on World Building and Scenario Mode. Timetable mode is currently complete, where you will be able to count with two timetables based in the current year."

VV360: "In the video, you can also see how the CONVEL tests are performed. These are carried out whenever the driver activates the cabin and serve to ensure the correct functioning of CONVEL. Each of the codes that appears on the main screen (in green) indicates the specific test being performed."

VV360: "We can't wait to share more news with you soon!"

Class 466 & Sheerness Branch from Firefly Simulations
    [IMG]

Since its initial announcement in August, work has been apace to convert the Class 465/9 into its diminutive classmate, including reverting the passenger door windows to their original design, altering the interior, and of course adjusting the “under the hood” setup, which differs from the 465 in two ways; the equipment is compacted into two underframes rather than four, and only one of the vehicles is powered, the other being a trailer. The next step on the 466’s journey will be to update the PIS font to better match the prototype, more on this in the future!

As for the Sheerness Branch, it’s coming together very nicely so far, and our attention is primarily turned towards the star of the show; the Kingsferry Crossing. Situated in the flat marshes of Kent and Sheppey, both the towering spires of the original bridge and the arching crescent of the newer road bridge stand tall over the landscape here.

Lastly for today, timetables are progressing with the 466 running on both the Sheerness Branch and the Medway Valley Line. As a recap; the pack will contain a 2019-era timetable for both routes, featuring different service patterns on the MVL, as well as an additional modern timetable for Sheerness using the 375/3, for those that own MVL.
We look forward to checking back in with the Firefly team for further updates!

    Patches & Updates
Recent Train Sim World 7 Patches
    • September 23rd Core Update - A major update that brought a range of improvements including performance updates to Nürnberg-Würzburg, fixing car crossings on Florida Tri-Rail, fixes to door systems on the Class 331 for Airedale & Wharfdale, as well as some key updates to AI Conductor and Beginner Controls.
    • September 29th Core Update - The second major TSW 7 patch continued to bring a range of improvements from your shared feedback. Including improvements to Beginner Controls, ensuring the HUD reads track signals and limits, as well as triggering SPADs as expected and fixes to help reduce instances of lower-resolution textures on a range of Add-ons, and more improvements to core routes.
    • October 7th Core Update - This third patch introduced new sounds for the ICE 4 and included many changes to Airedale & Wharfedale, Tri-Rail Miami and Nürnberg – Würzburg, along with some fixes and Quality of Life updates for the Beginner Controls.

    Upcoming Updates

    • October 15th Core Update - A medium-sized patch, including further fixes and improvements for TSW7 core content, including ICE 4 adjustments based from community feedback, GP49PH-3 AI conductor fixes, Airedale & Wharfdale scenery updates, adding missing OHLE and environment tweaks, and much more.
    • Further October Update - Another update currently scheduled before the end of the month, alongside the Mildmay Line Extension, focusing on optimisation. Featured locos: Class 66, HST, BR 294, ICE3, BR 103, BR 612, and selected Rolling Stock
    • November Updates - Following our October 15th patch, we're aiming to target key remaining community priority issues, including player and camera movement, Save Game resuming crashes, new settings not remaining persistent between sessions, and additional ICE 4 feedback.

Following our regular patch updates, we're also targeting larger changes that help to bring your experience to a better level, a couple of which we want to highlight and detail below!

    Train Sim World: Inside Development
    Optimisation Progress: Locos and Layers
Our work to optimise performance and reduce the memory load continues, which we understand is a very important topic for our community. We have identified potentially significant memory optimisations on locos and are finalising a plan for the areas of highest impact; some of this work is already live on routes like Nürnberg - Würzburg by targeting layered rolling stock.
We would like to give you an overview of where we are but feel like this is important enough to warrant its own deep dive, rather than being part of the wider Roadmap article.
We're currently gathering information from the relevant departments to work it into a proper article, which we hope will be ready for you soon. You can also expect to see more optimisation updates in our upcoming patches.

    Darker Main Menu Interfaces
One of the areas we’ve seen some clear feedback on following the launch of Train Sim World 7, is the accessibility of our updated main menus, and the request to bring in an alternative darker variant.
Today we’re sharing some in-development screenshots of a new setting we’re adding that will bring this darker UI mode into the game, across all platforms. For those on PC, you may be able to take advantage of this community-made mod. However, remember that, as with all mods, there is an inherent risk when modifying game files.

Please note these images are work-in-progress (including any typos), and a current early version of what we’re hoping to share. If you do have any feedback, keep this in mind, but let us know what you think!

It’s important we consider the implications and legibility of text, buttons and general visuals, so we’re hoping to spend the time and get this right before we can share to you all.

We’re grateful for the love for our latest UI with TSW7, and whilst it’s easier on the eyes than our previous editions, rest assured we’re working hard to make it literally easier on your eyes, especially when playing in darker environments, and we’ll share more news on when you can expect the darker UI variant soon.

Next Steps for the Tadami Line
“Hi everyone - Senior Community Manager Alex here to share some thoughts on TSW7’s first Release with Tadami Line. With our first visit to Japan in Train Sim World, we’ve heard so many wonderful comments from players enjoying the beautiful scenery, and I’ve had people reach out on our live Q&As which I’m very grateful to hear, but it’s important for us to acknowledge that we’ve also seen a large range of feedback and disappointment about missing features that let down the experience.”

“Tadami Line had been announced for a long time, and we know many of you were hoping for a stronger start with it’s release. This was also Union Workshop’s first chance to dive into Train Sim World, following and growing on their work from Train Simulator Classic, and we’re currently working with them on scoping out a series of improvements that aim to bring Tadami Line up to your expectations, including all the features you’d expect.”

“When you have a project this long in development, it can be difficult to ensure where to draw the line with release, at the risk it just stays unreleased for an even longer period of time. That said, I know we’ve not quite landed as smooth as we wanted, and I’m grateful for everyone who shared constructive feedback with our teams following the launch.”

“Let’s talk next steps – today, we’re actively in conversation with Union Workship to scope out these improvements and features, sharing documentation to their group, and helping work closely with them. Some of that work has already started following launch, and currently, Suspension Improvements, Rail Singing, as well as new Engine Audio updates are all in our testing with our teams now, with further features being targeted next."

"What we haven’t yet done, is confirmed that scope to a date/timeline we can announce, but we have every intention to make that update arrive as soon as possible, certainly not another 3 years, and elevate that experience we want to provide with Tadami Line.”

“We’ll be back regularly to check-in with progress and confirmation on dates, so hold tight, and we hope that when we’re ready with these improvements, you’ll be ready to jump in and add Japan alongside your TSW collections.”

    Community Corner
    Winter 2026 Player Survey
Just like in previous years, we're currently preparing our annual player survey. We will share it later this month, giving you the opportunity to make a large impact on the direction and development for Train Sim World.

This is one of the most important ways we gather your feedback, asking you to share your thoughts on TSW7, our latest add-ons, what's working or not working for you now, and fundamentally what you’d like to see in the future.

We’re still putting the finishing touches on the survey to make sure it covers the topics that matter most to you. Our plan is to share this with you all at the end of this month, and we look forward to hearing what you think!

October 2026 Railshot Competition - Now Open

An Update on October 2026 Monthly Mastery

We know that many of you have been waiting for the October Monthly Mastery to start, and we would like to give you a quick update on its current status.

We’re planning to share the October Mastery later this month, and we apologise for the delay. We don’t have a confirmed release date just yet, but the intention is to release this in the coming weeks of October, and we’ll announce it as soon as it’s ready, so please keep an eye on our channels for updates.

As part of a seasonal approach, and to give everyone plenty of time to catch up, the October, November, and December challenges will remain active throughout December, until the end of the year. Thank you for your patience so far, and you can catch a glimpse of the posters in our overview below.

And while monthly mastery challenges will continue to take place and reward players with unlockable posters that can be viewed in-game, we’ve made the decision to end route specific challenges for new routes, to focus on a more seasonal approach. Mastery challenges for existing routes will remain in place and you can contribute progress towards these challenges in any compatible game, on any supported platform.

OK, once again the TSG stuff blew me away completely.
First, i would never, NEVER have expected to have a Köf loco ingame, and a Köf II even less. This will make an amazing addition to the game and will be a ton of fun to drive for sure
Also nice to see that Neckartalbahn will be quite busy with a packed and versatile timetable, especially for those who own the mentioned additional locos and rolling stock. The new images look breathtaking! Could very likely become my new favourite, if the quality holds up to the set expectations :)
And of course the V100 looks gorgeous in this early stage already! Glad to see we'll get a blue/beige as well as a dark red one (on a sidenote, excited to see that livery variety on the Neckartalbahn images as well) :D
Very hyped for the TSG stuff! That includes the more far-off ones like the 420 as well :)

On a sidenote about the coming updates:
Does that mean the 612 will get an overhaul or even remaster? It would need one... desperately.

Main event for me has to be the TSG steam route, everything else is secondary.

Dutch route looks okay but a bit squeaky clean, though appreciate very WIP.

Saw a passing reference to the save game in the core updates - does that mean chained runs will finally resume correctly?

Looks pretty promising on the German side this time around. Great to finally see the model of the Köf II and 212. Three great DLC and all from TSG and all interacting with each other, so I'm gonna be poor once they release as these are definitely day one purchases for me (big surprise as a German and a fan of historic content).

I do wonder if we'll get appropriately changed sounds for the 140. As I'm looking at the running number of the 140 341 and 140 651 in the screenshots, it's a different build series than the 140 757 (140.8) and upwards, which we got with Frankenbahn, which has MU and DVT operating capabilities and an SSW W29T tap changer with flat-track selector and two thyristor load switches. It should have no MU and DVT operating capabilities and should posess a BBC N28h tap changer with flat-contact selector, transition resistor, and two mechanical load switches which has a more distinct and louder soundscape (you can easily look up some videos on YouTube and have a listen).
I hope we will get that soundscape which I fell for head over heals with Virtual Railroads' DB BR 110 pack for TS Classic.

Aside from the German side I'm quite hyped by the new screens of the second Dutch route, which I'm anticipating quite more than I anticipated to anticipate it originally. But seeing all the canals, windmills and typical Dutch countryside buildings next to two bustling major cities, which Zwolle - Groningen didn't have on that scale, I am quite excited for its release sometime next year (hopefully).

I'm also quite surprised by Atlantic Coast: Par-Newquay, as I didn't have any reference to Brass Can Games. Judging from the images, this could turn into a day one purchase from a previous "I think I'll wait 'til it's on sale".

Cumbrian Coast just did what I expected it to do: peak my interest with every new image a bit more than before.

Also looking forward to both Cargo Line packs this time around.

I'm rather intrigued by the new UK IZA Twin Vans, as the text on the wagons is German, placing them in the care of the Frankfurt (Main) wagon workshops. Is that prototypical? Are those wagons transported through the Channel Tunnel? Could they be appropriately used on German or Dutch routes as well? Could they even layer into German or Dutch timetables in the future? Maybe the community could help out a curious German here, if not the Dev or DTG.

Looking forward to the stream in a bit.

probably just a texture and memory footprint optimization. Which is also very much needed.

The Cargoline vans for WCML south.

It'll create yet another timetable. But this one will include the 70, the 90, no duplicate 66. I'll take that.

One trademark of the DC-Züge were the coaches painted in the so called "Pop-Lackierung", which was an experimental paint introduced in 1970 and abandoned in 1974 in favour of the Oceanblue. Will this coaches, which only differed from the outside with interior being unchanged come along with Neckartalbahn? Here's a link with the RAL codes used. That would be awesome and add 1970s vibe.

IZA Wagons as of most Cargo Waggon types are international, They were used through the tunnel on the Flows to Ditton until a year or two back with metal products going through the tunnel. They also have all the anchorage straps for securing on boats.

Judging from the new screenshots we will already get those coaches (2nd class as well as mixed ones, mind you) in green and blue/beige, as well as n-Wagen with black frames, which I totally didn't see coming. From my point of view, we are getting very much pampered already as it is, and it's still not enough? :|
People, please for once stop demanding, take a breath, think about how much work all those DLCs mean for developers. Even a simple livery will keep one busy for days or even weeks, if done correctly and thoroughly.
    Just wanted to say.

Absolutely, AmityBlight , we are getting definitely more than last year and it looks like a great time coming up.

But, I think you're mistaking the Oceanblue with Pop. Hence I attached an image (taken by Giorgio Stagni in 1983) which shows the difference very clear. Just drawing the attention to this experiment by Deutsche Bundesbahn from 1970, which was quite present and a trademark of DC train services.

    Kind regards.

I did not, I'm well aware of the difference. With my post I just wanted to point out that we will already get these coaches, the 2nd class and mixed class, in green and blue/beige, plus some n-Wagen (again, Bn and ABn) with black frame. That's two new coaches in 4 total liveries as well as two new liveries for existing coaches. Add to that the workload of making the BR 140 period accurate with handrails and all. And I haven't even mentioned the BR 23 yet.
In my eyes that's a well rounded 5 star meal already. Asking for even more borders on gluttony ;)

Nice to see so many German projects on the Roadmap, hope TSG will be able to manage all this parallel.

Still unhappy that route masteries and route trophies/achievements have been taken away, the monthly masteries are nice to have but do not motivate me to play anything new/out of my german comfort zone

very two-faced roadmap. the main takeaway for me is that there’s a lot of DE stuff there, which is really good as germany got shafted in tsw6. also a few quite promising third party projects too. however, it fails to meaningfully address the big issues and i’m no more convinced that the stability of the game and blurry textures are actually any closer to being resolved
