A modded can do that. There are quite a few talented reskiners out there.

Surely not, railroad crews don't load tank cars, that's the customer's job!

Not sure drivers are responsible for putting up signs and posters, fixing fences, and commissioning new ticket machines either!

Come on DD, railroad sims require multitasking! I'm perfectly happy handling all jobs in TSW: driver/engineer, 2nd man - conductor - switch-man - car loader - unloader, and whatever else comes along. In fact, I look forward to handling every job that pops up. TWS is a railroad simulator, not just an engineer/driver simulator.

I'd just rather have a railroad operations element added, like working sand boxes that you can collect sacks of sand and fill up. Something that the train crew might actually do.

I really hope we will see some locomotive audio improvements, especially to the GP38.

I hope so too. Sound is such an immersive part of the experience, it's super important and I'm glad from the last few routes they seem to be working on it more.

Yes, that would interest me as well, but how do you foresee such tasks being carried out in TWS? At present, a simmer can walk, run, climb steps and ladders, operate couplers, open or close cab windows, operate controls, etc. but cannot look at his own limbs performing these tasks. Per your example, the player might be able to see a sack of sand rising up from the ground and being deposited somewhere, but not the sack resting on his shoulders -- any more than one cannot see his hand reaching out to operate couplers or switch handles, windows, fuel caps or hoses, etc. This is somewhat frustrating, but after a while one just accepts these visual lacunae as yet another convention of the simulator.

Could those invisibilities become visible? If so, how and how much would they add to the already considerable computer load required by TSW?

I'd settle for the bag just hovering in front of the player with a pouring animation on clicking. I think having no appendages is preferable to having poorly animated or detailed ones which clip through other models.

Filling sandboxes is a bit of a funny one, in BR steam era certainly collecting jugs of sand from the sand oven and filling up the boxes as required was a duty of the driver (or fireman), but during BR Blue days I think it started to fall more on the fitters responsibility to fill the boxes up and the driver only really checking and noting if they needed filling in the defect book (assuming the loco even had sanders (or ones that actually worked!)), and on some modern trains the on board computer keeps track of the sand boxes and throws an error message when they run low for the fitters to refill. I suspect there's many regional and country variations on who's responsibility it is, but I wouldn't say it is universally the drivers or train crew as far as I'm aware.

In North America the train crew will bring the train to the yard where they will hand the locomotive over to a hostler. The hostler will then remove the locomotive from the train, refuel it, fill up the sand etc. There's a scenario in CSX Heavy Haul where you are the hostler, 'Clear Cut.' Instead of just refueling the locomotives and moving them around the yard, it would be great to be able to fill the sand too. Adding a game mechanic to allow the sanding of locomotives, whether from a tower with a hose, or in bags, is much more appropriate than the loading/unloading of tank cars, which is almost exclusively done by the customer.

Although I understand that the customer would be in charge of this task, I would rather be filling and unloading tank cars that effect the weight of my train. Maybe when there is a good use for sand this could be implemented. I’m okay with being the driver and the customer in this instance!

Small thing I just noticed in the devstream- the crossings don't have proper Canadian crossbucks. Just reused US ones.

They're not the red trimmed crossbucks, as in the picture below? DTG claimed that despite the route being short it was because of the attention to detail. The crossbuck would take about 10mins to implement in TSW, so if they have just recycled the old ones then that's pretty shocking.

Yes, that is exactly what I said. I saw at least 3 different crossings like this, so it's not a one-off mistake like... iirc there's one broken crossing somewhere in either PC or LIRR.

I know it's a tiny detail, but it's literally just a slightly different texture. That is the only difference between Canadian and American crossings- after all, they're both part of the North American rail network. Not that hard.

Honestly all railroad crossings in TSW since Sand Patch have been just plain lazy some way or another. Not only are they not animated, but the German ones are completely inaccurate- there are not 2 flashing yellow lights when the gates are down, juat a single solid red one on top. The lower white/yellow one only turns om when the gates are about to lower, like a yellow traffic light.

Seriously, wouldn't a solid red light take less work to set up?!

Being a massive switch yard are we going to see some switching locos later on like the one for Amtrack and the the new ones coming out for caltrain?

It's a possibility but who knows? DTG will obviously know something but we only ever find out what's coming when it gets announced.

It seems obvious to me that the two engines included with this route are used for switching as well as line operations. If I'm wrong about this, I'm sure I'll hear about it soon.

It's their responsibility to translate if they're going to post on an English language forum. I often translate within my browser to see if they're making a relevant or interesting point, but rarely respond on principle!

Me too but I typed too quickly, anyway I really hope to see more loco DLCs on this route if this one will ever be patched otherwise TSW will fall apart
