All my life, bottom fishing with a tight line meant catfishing...and that meant a treble hook with stinky bait. So, I have had to do a bit of research on this KD, CHOD, Blowback, etc. way of rigging and the one thing I can't find in the way of explanation is this...how do those rigs actually hook the fish? It looks like the carp suck up the bait, swim away with it creating tension on the line that causes the hook to slide from the mouth of the fish to the lip...the fish essentially hooks itself by swimming away. Is that even close to correct? Thanks, in advance for the tutoring.
Not far off, the ledger weight, as well as aiding casting distance & keeping the bait in place, also works as a counter weight to help set the hook
No problem. I'm sure there's people on the forum who could go into detail with regards to the various rigs & their pros & cons but I've always lived by the mantra "keep it simple, stupid!"
