I would like to see more wide cab locomotives for train simulator.like taper draper or cowl units. Thanks
The good news is thanks to the community, we do currently have ATSF F45s/FP45s. As for Canadian Cowls, we also have SD60Fs thanks to Ian Allen (EYEIN12). An SDF40-2 could reasonably be made just by repainting the SDP40F, as that is what they were rebuilt from. Nobody has taken this on yet though. Maybe a marketplace release? When it comes to other cowls though, that's an excellent idea. I would love to see an SD50F, GE Dash 8-40CM, SD40-2F (different from SDF40-2 for the uninitiated), and a Bombardier HR-616 brought to the game.
There's a bit more to it than just repainting an SDP40F. There would have to be extensive modifications to the nose and there would have to be the addition of a "porch" on the front of the locomotive and freight-specific details. Even the moving of the headlight to the top of the cab. That's why no one has attempted it yet.
That makes a bit more sense now. However, the modifications aren't something that child objects can't handle.
At least the good news is if someone wanted to make an SDF40-2 is that there is still one in existence currently in Boulder City, Nevada, saw it last year when I visited the Vegas area. (I think it still in operational condition too)
That's half true as in a way the porch can be fitted, but other details such as a moved headlight and notched nose are not possible to do without editing the mosel itself. It'd be technically better to create a new model altogether.
