Is it actually possible to do an all-stops Leeds-Manchester or vice versa run in the 101 and be on time?

I am usually a minute or more late by the second station!

I really enjoy driving it, but god it's hard to stay on time.

I've got gold for it but I don't think I was bang on time, a couple of minutes late probably. I got so stressed looking at the clock all the time I realised I wasn't enjoying the drive. I find it better to turn the HUD off, drive the best you can, forget about the time and I usually get a nice surprise at the debriefing screen. You can see the speedometer without the HUD well enough to avoid speeding. In real life, the driver could be a bit creative with the speed limits to keep time, they didn't have gaffers breathing down their necks in those days. I knew a driver from that era, passed away now, and some of stories he told wouldn't be believed today. ;)

I'm usually a couple of minutes late and I drive it like I stole it.

I wouldn’t worry about being late. It’s a British Rail train in the 80s after all.
