The Rhymney line ( in South Wales ) would be a fantastic route to add to the game, the route is just over 22 miles of double and single track and accommodates passenger and freight operations. The line is served by Class 150’s, Class 142’s, Class 143’s and for the freight operations, class 66’s using HTA hoppers. Locomotives are stabled at Cardiff Canton depot and Rhymney sidings, which could be an opportunity to add shunting and ECS operations. Passenger operations are seen by a 10 train per hour timetable, with 9 trains out of the 10 terminating at Bargoed, and 1 T/H up the single line to Rhymney. The freight operations could take place between Cardiff Central station and Ystrad Mynach south jn, where the line splits into a freight only single line. There are many landmarks, too. This includes the Principality (millennium) stadium, overlooking Cardiff Central station, Caerphilly Tunnel, Caerphilly Castle,
(2nd largest castle in the UK) , the disused Hengoed Viaduct & many more. In my opinion, the Rhymney line would be the perfect route to implement into TSW. Short, sweet and picturesque.

There are some beautiful lines in Wales, would be nice to see one of them in TSW, the one you suggested sounds perfect!

Along with the disused Hengoed viaduct there is still the used Bargoed viaduct the train passes over. The line is 22 mile long, 18 stops I believe and very scenic. Would be a nice route to add.

This route would make a great addition to the game. Is scenic and not too hard to make.

As a Welshman I'd love a Welsh route in TSW2.

If this was set 2 years ago you could have Class 37 hauled passenger trains.

Go back 20 and you could add Classes 33, 47 and 50.

You don't fancy running the Class 769 then?

You would probably want to run through to Penarth and Barry Island at the south end, so you can have services terminating and forming a next working. In addition you're probably going to want to include the line to Cwmbargoed so you can layer in some coal trains.

You could also branch off the Ystrad Mynach line to Penallta colliery for some coal hauling as well.

This would be a great add on route! I'd add the branches to Coryton, Cardiff Bay and Penarth as then you can have full runs and the route will feel more complete.

As a person who lives in Caerphilly, this line would be an absolute dream to see this line come to TSW2. However I would like to see trains continue all the way to Penarth or even Barry Island and not terminate at Cardiff Central.
