I just seen official gameplay on youtube by Train Sim Gameplay, but it still leaves a question on why DTG not adding a dual mode or diesel passenger locomotive with brand new services along with route extensions as it would make the LIRR DLC complete and have services into Hunterspoint Ave and Lic station permanently and not just in scenarios.

Who knows, maybe at some point in the future, we will see that. For now, I am just glad we got the M3.

No route has had an extension to date....so I would not be holding your breath for that (or indeed for any of the routes). If it is actually possible to extend a route in TSW/UE4...it probably won't happen until the editing tools are released to the public.

I am confirming that the I can close the doors while the brake is in notch 2. Perhaps it was a glitch with the controls in one of the scenarios. I just tried Metropolitan mover and was able to close the doors while my brakes were in notch 2.

We really should get an extension though. At least in my opinion, you spend too much time driving on 4+ track urban areas instead of the 1 or 2-tracked branch lines. If we got an extension I think that would pave the way for the diesels. Heck, maybe they'd even add them in along with the extension if they ever make one!

For now, if the dual mode and diesel locomotives were created, I think there would be scenarios for them to run semi express to Hicksville. I am not quite sure if the C3 and locomotives run on the Hempstead branch, but it should be possible. They should continue developing the branches for the LIRR.

Depends on what people mean by "extension". What they probably would have to do is replace the old route with the extended one, and then just somehow prevent you from going on the parts you don't own. Invisible walls, untouchable switches, instant gameovers. Take your pick.

I imagine if it were able to be done .... people who buy the extension would have their entire route replaced with the longer version (along with the additional services, scenarios etc). The people who haven't purchased the extension would continue using the current one as normal.

It means then there would then be 2+ versions of a route for DTG to maintain/patch. I mean....correct me if I am wrong, this is how the route extensions are handled in TS2020 ?

This then leads onto the question if routes could be merged (ie NEC:NY + LIRR or RSN + RRO etc).....how would this be done ? I honestly dont think they would merge them though...we have a much greater chance of seeing route extensions

This button pretty much serves as a door cut out. For example, if I were to turn the door zone from through to off, any door within the cars past that cab won't open.

Usually, this is used when there's a car the crew doesn't want the public to be able to access. In TSW, the only reason I see to use it would be stopping at a short station and you don't want the doors to open that aren't level with the platform.

Work is finally underway on the LIRR, but unfortunately the timetable does not change. And nothing is said about train destination displays on the train

The game engine would break attempting to keep track of that many trains. I crashed not just the game but my PC attempting, in TS2021, to recreate just one hour of real-life passenger operations at Munich Hbf - not even a whole route, just one station. And TS classic requires way, way less computing horsepower per train than TSW does.
