Here’s a link to a youtube video of an actual all-stops Caltrain service between San Jose-Diridon and SF-King St. (shot from Gallery Car 4021). I’ll be posting more of these Caltrain Service videos as I discover them... just thought other folks here might like to check out the lay of the land in this area, observe whistle-bell procedures at stations and crossings, etc. Enjoy.
Hmm, u know what I just noticed? That DTG didn’t replicate the pedestrian version of the railroad crossings at each station. Of course, they’re only present on certain stations, but it would add a lot more realism if DTG would’ve made them. I only noticed the road crossings, not the pedestrian crossings in the game, but DTG does have the foundations to do that since the Peninsula Corridor has the track roadbed to do that.
Yep, you’re right... they have the walkways in place at many stations from what I’ve seen, just not the crossing gate gear. I would like to see these too, but I suspect the devel folks have bigger fish to fry at this point. You could submit a feature request for this... wouldn’t hurt to at lease log the request.
...link to a nice video of some of the Caltrain action on the Peninsula Corridor during rush-hour (Belmont Station):
Here’s another nice video of assorted rail traffic rolling through the Santa Clara stop, not too far north of the CEMOF facility in SJ. Caltrain traffic is included of course, plus ACE (Altamont Commuter Express) and Amtrak traffic. Note the restored depot building and interlocking tower at the other end of this stop. I like this location... I used to film here a lot back in the day- when I wasn’t in Stockton of course, and when there was much more to the Newhall yard.
Very cool. TSW gets it so right! Also, big thumbs up for that CT97 Gallery Cab Car, because those things don't get enough love. I just like the way they look, and driving them in their little comfy cabs is a treat.
