As the title suggests, can we please have the option to disable bloom in TSW 2? As seen in the images below, the bloom in TSW 1, in my opinion, looks totally unrealistic and blows colours out. White surfaces in particular look blown out in sunny weather and/or when reacting with light sources. The two pictures shown below shows how harsh the bloom can be on white surfaces. It causes an almost glowing effect and disregards the ability to show any dirt and weathering. Instead it just looks like a blank, white canvas as well as overlapping onto other surfaces. As a comparison, I have included a real life picture of how it looks during bright and sunny conditions. Here you can see everything look natural as well as vibrant and not washed out, unlike in TSW.
It is ridiculous that they made these changes and didnt bother to give us an option to disable it. Especially considering that it is a pretty huge change that makes the game (in my biased opinion) look much worse.
Boo to bloom. It doesn’t appear to help make anything look better and often makes things much worse so I’ve never understood why there’s so much of it. I’d love to be able to turn it off or tone it down a few notches.
I think the worst offender definitely is the M7 in the LIRR route. Those things are as bright as the flippin sun when you shine a light on them! I certainly agree with you on this, it'd be nice to turn down the bloom and give the game a tad more contrast.
I have to agree. The degree of bloom which the most recent TSW1 routes have (basically Peninsula Corridor and everything released after it) is ridiculous. While it may look nice under some circumstances, broad daylight is definitely not one of them.
I love abit of bloom to be honest.....but like i said....ABIT lol I find the lighting in GWE rediculous, pitch black cant see a thing, then on ECW everythings bright and shiny, a little too much. Dead in the middle would be perfect but nevermind eh. If you make weather cloudy its actually lighter than without them at night time lol however i would rather have more than less but an option in the menu would be fab to choose low medium high ultra etc.
I agree it can be a bit glaring at times but it’s not a major concern. I expect many people have monitors like mine with a number of settings that adjust the colour balance for photos, gaming, movies etc.. If we can have a toggle for fps, a bloom adjust key should be simple enough.
It shouldn't be necessary for people to adjust their monitors for a game. The game should handle the options internally.
This clearly isn’t an issue with people’s monitor/screen configuration. DTG need to provide the user with more in game graphical options. Including brightness, bloom, gamma settings and more. The visual issues are enough to put me off playing the game.
Agreed, and FOV adjustment is another missing essential IMO. The default is far too wide and unrealistic for my own tastes. People have different monitors and viewing distances which needs to be taken into account in the game options.
It's amazing how people like you have the motivation to post comments which contribute absolutely nothing to the thread. You're about as much use as a chocolate teapot
Unsure why you feel that your comments add anything to this thread... The bloom on TSW can be sometimes a little over the top, and a slider to allow users to adjust their settings (as per most games) would be beneficial.
Also the blur - I would love to turn it off permanently. Can't imagine what that would do once steam is in-game. Those large wheels blurred to oblivion.
You maybe 'The last train to Clarksville', but I can't 'meet you at the station' on this one ........
So after watching the Bakerloo Line stream today it seems the awful bloom effects are still there. DTG, why do you make it so hard for yourselves to do something like this? Everyone knows and agrees as to how awful it looks, so why didn't you provide an option in the 'advanced settings' to disable it?
My guess is that the bloom effects are a localised effect within each route, seeing as it was not retroactively applied to routes like GWE and RT, etc. They can't make a simple bloom toggle switch because by the way they've designed their lighting system (it seems to be very... inefficient), it's not a global parameter. I am not sure how they have implemented bloom specifically into their routes, but methinks it's baked into each DLC individually by the lighting team rather than being a part of the codebase like motion blur. This is only speculation.
I laughed when you used this route as an example! Bloom is a serious offender and the source of disappointment when looking through screenshots. I cannot begin to explain how many screenshots are ruined due to bloom. : ((((
