Hello, I am looking to buy a new laptop with a budget of $700-1000 my main gameplay being TSW/TSW2. I found the G3 15 but I’m not quite sure if the specs are strong enough to play the game.

    Here are the specs

One thing to note is that although the processor is 2.5ghz it says it can be boosted to 3.5. Is this a good option or should I search elsewhere?
    • 10th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-10300H
    • Windows 10 Home 64-bit English
    • NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6
    • 8GB DDR4-2933MHz, 2x4G
    • 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive

Hei, this is a very low-end laptop to play games on.
With that processor it only reaches the games minimum spec of 3,5GHz when its in boost mode. And boost only works until it gets hot, the base 2,5GHz is what the thermal design is capable of sustaining.
Also the 8GB RAM is the bare minimum for TSW to run.
I would say the game may run, but only at the bare minimum and you may run into breaking issues.

Does it have to be a Laptop? For that money you could get a much better PC with enough power to play the game at reasonable quality.

Certainly doesn’t have to be a laptop, what suggestions do you have pc wise? I appreciate the advice

They have some builds here. The $1000 one doesn't look bad. If you can exceed a bit, I would put 32 Gb of RAM instead of 16Gb as MSFS uses them and others will follow soon.

PS: Just noticed it doesnt include mouse / keyboard / monitor. If you need that you might want to take a look at the $700 build as an starting point, but at least upgrade to 16Gb of RAM. I would consider it the minimum for gaming nowadays.

Just try it. Steam allows you to play for I think 1 hour. If you are not satisfied you can request a refund. It is best that you try it on your machine.

Anything with a Core i5 9500/9600/10500/10600 with or without K.
    16GB RAM
GeForce Card 1160 or better with 6GB or more RAM, 4GB is on the low end for new games.
Some M.2 SSD with at least 500GB for OS and Games.

These i would take as minimum specs, anything more is favorable. :)

Sorry but this is not true. I have much lower spec hardware and still am able to play it smoothly on high settings. Best for pc is to try it on steam.

He wants to buy the PC specifically to play TSW, not see if TSW plays on his existing PC.

These are the min specs i recommend, so it is true..
Also its about buying new hardware, do you want to buy a new PC that just barely plays the game?
And how exactly do you want to try hardware on steam?
If you want the cheapest lowest end Hardware that can play the game, then buy a console.

This is excellent advice. Get a PS4, avoid the xbox. The game will run better on PS4 than on a PC that barely meets, or is below, the minimum specs* and will be considerably less expensive. Unless of course there are PC only games you intend on getting like TS2020, then it just won’t work out!

*Although nobody has seen TSW2 run on either yet so who knows?

That Dell G3 model isn't exactly an accurate choice for TSW and let me explain why:
TSW puts more strain on the GPU. My configuration is as follows: Core i7-8650U and a GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile. So a slightly worse CPU and a slightly better GPU than what's in that Dell laptop. RAM isn't relevant IMHO as the game doesn't need a lot of it. While playing a TSW scenario on a quite busy route (RRO) get 25-40 FPS at Ultra settings in Full HD (no extra .ini tweaks). My resource monitor reports that the CPU is used at about 50%, while my GPU is constantly at 90-100% load. So the 1650, which is inferior to the 1060 in terms of performance, will be a bottleneck. Will TSW run? Sure, but with some FPS/defail compromise.

I agree you better save a bit more money. Keep an eye on the hard drive, this may be OK for just TSW2 for some time, but it256 Gb is rather small. I would go for two SSDs, one for the OS and another one for the game data. At first I bought a cheaper SSD for the OS, but it was defect within two years. Fortunately I still had my warranties and exchanged it for a Samsung drive.

Also, don't be blind for performance specs only. When I bought my new PC, I looked for a balance and invested some money in better cooling, silent casing and a good power supply. It cost met Euro 2000, excluding screen keyboard etcetera. Not really top in performance, but quite good.

It depends a lot on your budget, but I think a laptop never is an optimal solution for gaming..
