Line C is the oldest subway (Metro) line in Prague, opened in 1974 and built in architectonic style of Functionalism. The line has few oddities, as it started to be built as underground tram line (like in Vienna) and later switched to full metro system. Thanks to that, there are few pre-bored tunnels meant for the tram links and various extensions and other oddities meant for the initial tram operation. Metro bridge over the Nusle Valley with glass station on one end where you can see the Prague Castle from. The line was extended up north in recent years to reach the northern suburbs of Prague with modern stations in hard contrast to the old core of the line in the city centre. The line was supposed to operate R1 metro cars, designed by Czech designer František Kardaus (the one who designed the Tatra trams, exported into Germany and Eastern Europe) and Antonin Honzík, which was later changed for Soviet metro cars. But the line is now operated by Siemens M1 cars, co-developed for the Prague Metro with the mentioned Antonin Honzik which completed the circle broken by political reasons before.
