This will be a challenging trophy/achievement in TSW 2.
10,000 miles is almost half way round the world

It will be tough because all the routes are short and trying to do it on a commuter/metro route will take forever as your miles to time ratio will very poor due to the stop/start nature of it and low speeds. Take a metro route such as the Bakerloo line: 14.4 miles and it is timetabled 48 minutes. 10000/14.4 = 694 journeys (347 return journeys) or 555 hours in the seat. Now I don’t know how many journeys a Bakerloo Train operator doesn’t in a day but I will guess 3 return trips on a typical day so 347 return trips / 3 (or 555 hours / (0.8 hours * 6) ) = 115 productive days based upon 3 return trips a day.

Compare this to an intercity/long distance route (if and when one comes out), you will achieve it a lot quicker. Any mainline job on a given day that I do is no less than 250miles return trip and can be up to 400/450 miles which corresponds to between 3-6 hours of driving time in a shift. So 10000 miles would take me in real about productive 30 days (or 30 return trips) or 135 hours in the seat. It’s still a lot and certainly I would never spend this time on a simulator even if intercity routes were available. It would even be quicker on a high speed route such as the bullet train or the TGV, etc...

(Come to think of it, I would hate to see how many miles I’ve driven in GTA or how many miles I’ve ridden in Red dead redemption)

Here is a comparison of miles per minute on 3 different type of routes- metro, commuter and intercity:

Bakerloo line: 0.3 miles a minute
GWE turbo: 0.6 miles a minute
GWE HST: 1.44 miles a minute

Driving trains over a very long distance is not a question of skill, but of fatigue resistance. So it will be easy to do this for users who are used to 24/7 gaming ....
For me this is not worth a trophy under any circumstances.

I don’t think I’ll be getting platinum, that’s for sure.

Now, the question is, does that mean any single rail vehicle (not hard but very time consuming) or a total of all rail vehicles (less time consuming)?

Good question. I’m thinking it means a single vehicle, but it might not be.
