So kind of an oddball here, but Union Pacific SD24's could be made into a DLC for Train Simulator for either Sherman Hill, or the Wasatch Grade. The SD24 was built between July 1958, and March 1963. As its name states, it produced 2,400hp from EMD's 567D3 engine. A total of 224 were built, with 45 of them being B-Units, which were solely used by the UP. Other notable buyers were the Santa Fe and the Southern Railway. UP owned 79 of these units, with a total of 30 A units #400-429, 45 B units #400b-444b, and the 4 demonstrator units, numbered 445-448. UP 448 was the only High Hood Cab Loco on UP's roster. If these would come to Train Simulator, they could in both the "Dependable Transportation" Livery and maybe the larger font livery UP started using in the mid 70's. (Though some SD24s were "Mated" with yard slugs by then and assigned to heavy freight switching in Hump yards)
Sadly though, that won't happen because of the licensing :/ But, UP and SOU would still be cool! (even if we don't have an SOU route yet)
These would be great to run in conjunction with the Turbine and the other first and second gen UP diesels (GP20, GP30, GP9).
I think Digital Train Model would most definitely do this one! They'd also go perfectly MU'd with the GTEL's!
For whatever it's worth, this suggestion has my support. I'd love for some more classic American diesel locos to come to TS.
That would go great with the BN SD24 pack suggestion I recently made. I'd love to see these adorable little workhorses in action on Cajon Pass. Here are routes they'd go great on: Raton Pass Cajon Pass Steven's Pass Maria's Pass Montana Hi-Line Arizona Divide The Racetrack Tehachapi Pass
