if another ice route were to be added in the future and that goes 300kmh(there are only 4 routes in Germany where ice goes 300kmh; the red lines) which one would you like?? - Koln - Frankfurt: 110 miles; 177 km - Erfurt - Leipzig/Halle: 76 miles; 123 km - Nuremberg -Erfurt: 119 miles; 191 km - Nuremberg - Munich: 106 miles; 171 km
Köln > Frankfurt. Definitely. I believe this is an extension to the Aachen > Köln route we are already getting. It’d be great if they could be merged.
Need longer routes for these DB ICE trains love running the High speed trains just started running the schnellfahrstrecke Koln route love it hope for more!
That was a reference to us getting the Köln- Aachen route, not the extension. It was posted before the release of TSW2.
I voted Köln-Frankfurt. Very unlikely considering its lenght but Frankfurt is such an important station in the German network that it really should be done at some point.
Option 1, only if it comes as an extension to SKA, do trains stop at any intermediate stations? 177Km seems a little bit too much compared to DTG's standard but hopefully with the new method developed for LGV it could be possible, I'd pay €40/45 for such a route if it was crafted up to the same standards of shorter routes.
Maybe it could be broken up in two more manageable parts, but it would be much better to have a "terminus to terminus" run
Personally I would rather see Köln-Aachen extended into Belgium to Liège-Guillemins. I think that would be most interesting and allow for a greater variety of experiences. I feel a Frankfurt ICE route is inevitable and would be well loved. That's why I think its important to talk about something like an Aachen to Liège-Guillemins that is less obvious but as interesting.
I think then that the koln aachen should be extended then from Koln to Frankfurt and from Aachen to Brussels. The problem with the high speed routes that dtg are making is that they are simply too short for the speeds. Now that they devloped a way to make routes in a quicker way by auto placing scenery, hopefully we can get full line high speed routes or route extensions for routes such as koln to aachen
I‘d just like to correct myself. As shown in my picture, there‘s only one intermediate stop at Frankfurt (Main) Flughafen (Frankfurt airport). Somehow I was too stupid to read the table properly
My proposal would be Erfurt Leipzig. It would be nice to have the complete Leipzig HBF (Leipzig Mainstation) in TSW2.
Me too, Erfurt, Halle, and especially Leipzig are all beautiful stations, I would love to see in TSW 2. Plus the route has ETCS and is the most viable (route length wise). When DTG inevitably make another ICE route, I agree it should be a 300 kmh one.
Somehow, you are correct, but there are ICE services in RL which stop at Siegburg/Bonn, Montabaur and Limburg Süd. These services are leading over Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof (Frankfurt Airport) to Stuttgart and/or Munich.
Isn‘t there enough Ruhrgebiet for the moment? It is Not so scenic Up there. All the routes available now nearly look the Same. For me this area becomes boring as a DLC candidate
I really can't see why people would want to have Köln - Frankfurt. We'd only get the ICE3 (which we already have) and a route that is not very interesting (imo) - few stations in between, no other trains than ICE3, mostly LZB and "green light". I'd love to have a combination of highspeed and regional train. Like a route where maybe an ICE 1 or 2 runs, with a e.g. BR 110 with n-Wagen. See my point?
Well, we not only just have the ICE 3 in that extension, infact there are also S-Bahn and Regional Services between Köln and Siegburg/Bonn and that would also complete the S-Bahn Services to Düren, So we can have 3 trains in this Route, (ICE 3, BR 442 and BR 423)
Which sounds nice, but since we already have the ICE 3, 422 and 423 it becomes for me not that interesting. Or they give us a histric version with older trains like BR 103 with IC79 coaches, n-Wagen with a BR 110, 111. A BR 140 or something like that
Nürnberg-Erfurt is a lovely line, also would require implementation of ETCS L2 which would be very welcome. You could also include Coburg, and then a Vectron/Dostos for the FTX RE services between Nürnberg and Sonneberg.
Having koln frankfurt would be a good route because it would act not only as a route extension to Koln-Aachen, but a standalone route in which you can take the ice 3 to 200 mph to use the ice to it's max. Plus everybody who has tsw2 has the koln-aachen route so an extension from koln to frankfurt can easily be done. Sam says that a extension would have to be a standalone route and will only benefit those who owns that route that is getting extended. Well everybody has ska so it would benefit everybody if they are intrested in a german high speed route and enjoy ska with the db br 406 ice3m. It's only 94 miles and with the new tech developed and the fact that everybody has ska, an extension to frankfurt from koln as a standalone route can be done.
Although i'm absolutely not thrilled about this route suggestions, the point you made is actually well done. Never thought of that! But yeah, IF the want to experminent with merging, a TSW2 standard route is the best idea to try it
There has never been Cologne-Frankfurg on any good Train Simulator so TSW2 can be the first one to add it and it shouldn't be boring because there is a lot going on, but if they would do it I want to see Köln/Bonn Airport Station added too to that route
It would work since dtg are hesitant to extend dlc/preserved collection routes plus it would be cool to not only get a longer version of SKA which everyone owns from Aachen HBF to Frankfurt (Main) HBF, but to take the ICE 3 to 200 mph
here you can see the full route and all the stations between Cologne and Frankfurt but I don't think that they will include the route on the other Rhein Seide to Koblenz, I think they would do it in a nother route, so if they would do it
I think, the High Speed line from Köln to Frankfurt is everything else but boring. It is the route with the highest speed, the steepest gradients, the tightest curves and the best scenery since the line runs through the "Taunus", which is a famous low mountain range in this region with a lot of nature still at this point. In addition to that, the route has kind of a prominent character in Germany because of its many tunnels and bridges and especially because of the fast changes of curves and up- and down-slopes. Thus it it is quiet the opposite of the other german routes which are in the game so far and would bring something new to the game. By the way, this is what bothers me the most at SKA and HMA. We've got an ICE 3 in the Sim but the routes for it are just too "innocent" for this train. What the ICE 3 likes to do is flying up- and down the hills and thundering through tight curves, tunnels and stations on the way. Furthermore, I prefer driving under LZB. Someone wrote something about always "green lights" if driving under LZB. This is a point I don't get. If I drive under PZB and the signals are green or if I drive under LZB and the signals are green - it is the same challenge. The german routes I know in TSW 2 do have like two or three occasions each where you actually need to be cautious about the PZB or Signals. And after one or two trips on the route you know the spots where to brake and then it is like driving under LZB but slower. Moreover, LZB is only installed on the part of the route which would normally guarantee a free ride anyway. So at the bigger stations where it gets busy, the train would be under PZB anyway and the driver has to correctly go through the ending procedure of the LZB. So I rather drive under LZB with high speed and enjoy the feeling of making mileage than going slow. It may be different topic in real life tho where driving on slower routes is a challenge on its own. However, for this Simulator, a proper High Speed route like the LGV but hopefully in longer is desperately needed to satisfy the players need of going faster and pushing the ICE down to the limit. Because honestly: who didn't cranked the ICE up to 300 km/h on SKA So to conclude this: I really hope that the developers think about realizing this route. As someone who is kind of familiar with this High Speed connection between Frankfurt and Cologne I can genuinely tell you that this ride is truly spectacular!
For DTGs current capabilities, Nuremberg - Ingolstadt isn’t a bad idea. For the future, I’d definitely support Köln - Frankfurt if DTG will be able to make that.
Köln to Frankfurt makes sense because you have ICE Line 79 to Brussels Midi via Aachen SKA and ICE Line 41 Dortmund Köln-Frankfurt Würzburg Nuremberg München via Aschaffenburg Hbf the Main Spessart Bahn.
Köln-Frankfurt would be ace! The steep gradients and sharp turns are what sells it me. Especially since the locals dub it “The Rollercoaster”, gives me LGV vibes!
I agree and oddly one of the timetable Services might involve coupling the ICE Line 79 train At Frankfurt with ICE Line 41 from Aschaffenburg towards Köln to where ICE Line 79 runs on SKA while ICE Line 41 continues from Köln towards HRR to reach Dortmund via Bochum Hbf.
I would vote for Köln-Frankfurt because the existing 40 mile ICE routes are nothing, the trip is over in about 25 minutes, and that’s without LZB since it’s constantly slowing you down... If it ever makes it to TSW then hopefully it can be linked with SKA, since RRO and RSN both start at Hagen and can be linked, another route calling at Köln Hbf would probably be linked with SKA.
Correct and if you look at this Wikipedia list there's ICE Trains Lines 42 & 43 that use Koln-Frankfurt then RRO via Hagen & Wuppertal or HRR Duisberg Essen Bochum towards Dortmund from Frankfurt Am Main. ICE Line 41 does use HRR Dortmund Essen Duisberg SRM towards Frankfurt from Koln and Main Spessart Bahn Frankfurt Lohr where it uses the Hannover Würzburg HSR connector towards Munich via Nuremberg.
