I'm wondering how I can add more types of pedestrians/passengers to platforms to get more variation, just those that walk around the platforms when you pull up ?

Here you'll find how to add passengers on platforms and much more.

Cat Very nice video, it's very helpful in general, but it doesn't answer my question, I'm not asking how to add pedestrians, but how to add more kinds of pedestrians, an example: I have a route that came out in 2014, to spice up this route one of the things I want to do is to add the pedestrians from a brand new DLC I bought in 2020, so how would I do that ?

In the Edit click on the small blue cube with the little orange triangle. You get a flyout on the right of your screen. The lists your available assets. Scroll down to DTG, you get a list of all the routes and trains you have. Tick on the route you wish to select your passengers from.

Then over on the top left click Linear objects, (the little rail track) and then click on platforms which lists platforms. Look for Invisible platforms. This gives you passengers only, look through them to select the passengers you want.

Just a tip, if you are new to editing, create a test route to experiment on.

    Hope this helps.
