Yes disc versions tend to be released after the initial launch. However I don't have enough info to guarantee that a disc version will be releasing. That we will need to wait for. But watch the railfan tv streams to get more info from the executive producer Matt and the amazing community manager Sam or DTG Protagonist.
I can't see the appeal of a disc version if you're planning on getting future routes and locomotives. You'll always be at mercy of having the disc inserted even if you are playing your downloaded routes. Given that TSW and TSW 2020 were on disc, I guess there's a possibility this one will be too.
Owning the disc version has advantages,it like having a backup for the game,and unlike the digital version you feel like you own something real.not just a bunch of 1's and 0's.
But seriously I do want a disc version because it's better and so the data is on the disc, if there's no disc coming out then I can't play it, great I didn't even know why I got excited for it.
But still I can't it has to be on disc because I don't have a credit card and all the shops are closed.
yeah the data is not saved on the disk if i was to download the game into my xbox and then play it for bit take the disc out and put it in a different xbox it will start the game as if no one has used it it's all saved on the xbox's saved memory
personally i think why is to save the hassle they have had with trying to get people's routes transferred ect for people who have laready have discs
There are several advantages of disk (in general, not specifically TSW) ... It's often cheaper, 24.99 on amazon for a game that's 39.99 in the xbox or ps store! It's quicker to install if you have a slow internet connection, downloading 30GB can take a couple of days if you get bored of the game you can sell the disk or trade it in for another game if for any reason your xbox/ps account gets compromised, you can set up a new one and you still have the disk, a digital version would have to be purchased again. And a couple of disadvantages you have to insert it into the machine every time you want to play. If you only play one game that's no issue, it can live in there! there's chance of damage to the disk rendering the game unplayable. particularly with constant swapping as above! Having said all that, in the case of TSW I don't think it's worth having the disk. Unless you're sticking to the supplied routes, you will probably purchase a lot of DLC, so has to be downloaded anyway, and in the case of account loss would have to be re-purchased

So DTG say loads of times that there are no plans to release it on disc but it’s on Amazon already for a November release, with full description of what content it has and full marketing blurb. Things do change quickly round here don’t they.
Looks like they do see a market for disc versions then. It's £34 on The Game Collection. Amazon are charging full RRP. Maximum Games is taking care of disc versions once again.
