I'm thoroughly enjoying the numerous switching session available in the new CSX, but the track slope numbers are often confusing. How is it possible for a track to have a -0.2 degree slope in both directions???
Yeah, was about to ask, the slope indicator does not shift once you start going reverse, so you need to look at it backwards, the indicator always assumes you are going in a forward direction, so once you start reversing flip it in your mind, and you are A OK
I have come to just look at the slope indicator as how the land is in relation to you as you are standing still and looking out the front of the locomotive. If you think of it like this then it makes no difference as to your direction of travel.
Neither of the notions posted so far make any sense to me, so I still think that the so-called slope indicator needs reworking.
