DTG Protagonist Can you confirm if the Clinchfield SD40-2 is supposed to be SD40?

DB BR 101 wouldn't it turn up in Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr and Hauptstrecke München Augsburg in service timetable mode along with SKA or is it exclusively for SKA

The new additions to the roadmap would be much better in bold! :) Good shout.

Since I saw these locos on the roadmap with München-Augsburg but am not that well versed with the differences between models, does anybody know if the br 403 and br 423 are actually seperate new trains?

From what I found out the br 403 is basically the ingame 406 but with only one method of getting electricity from the railroad instead of two/more. And the 423 seems to look exactly like the 425 ingame.

Maybe these will be like alternative skins since the differences (to me at least) seem so small?

There are lots of things that are reported by several people, it seems like they are just happy with the way the game is now instead of trying to improve on the many bugs/inconsistencies people have with the game.

403 and 406 indeed are basically the same, the main difference is that the 406 can handle different overhead wire systems and is therefore capable of driving to France, Belgium or Switzerland while the 403 can't.

The 423 is indeed a bit different to the 425 though- take a closer look at the front, especially the headlights.
    In comparison the 425:
The most noticable difference in the exterior might be that black ring along the headlights. Also there are differences at the doors (423 has more) and therefore in the interior with other seating.

Awesome, thank you very much for this elaborate answer! I have been trying to compare the two 423 and 425 for days now but your pictures really show that there is a difference. Maybe similar to the British freight trains from NTP, the corresponding freight dlc and TVL. The locos look very alike on first glance but are quite different in detail.

    Thanks again!

There will be no sharing of sharing liveries due to license issues

100% agree, no disrespect to the new CM, im sure they will do a great job, but i like how sam doesnt beat around the bush and says everything how it is. I know some dont like the way replies from sam come accross, i personally like it, DTG Protagonist, whatever your future brings, how there is still some sort of capacity role working with DTG still.

Off-topic, but thanks for the support. Our two shiny-new CMs are still finding their feet at the moment, so expect to see me around for the next couple of weeks at least. After that... not sure what's next, but I'm unlikely to be leaving DTG (unless they've had enough of me).

We still have one more community person to hire and that's the director, interviews have been going on, the process is well underway.

Except that the roadmap shows what they're working on now rather than bugs they know about. If lots of people have reported it then they know about it, even if they're developing other things first

Quite so. The majority of the roadmap is occupied with work that was underway before the game was released. This time around we added extra items that have come as a result of player feedback and there will be a lot more where that came from. It's also likely that some items may never make a roadmap update because they're in-and-out before they've had a chance to appear.

    Playable comes first, refinement later.

Though they would then be on the patchnotes so at least people get notification somewhere...
Maybe that would be a possibility for a new document somewhere. When something is nailed on, known, release date and patch notes have it on a list so people can at least search for it without creating their own post only to be told it's already public knowledge. I think that's something missing from the roadmap, known release dates

Completely agree with everything everyone has said here. Sam is straight up, not "Not at the moment", etc. He says no and yes rather than not yet, etc. I think that TSW2 has brought some more transparency with the roadmap, but nothing is perfect from the start, as said in other forum posts. GG Sam!

I agree with the others who think that Sam has done a great job of righting the ship in terms of communication and relations with the community.

I fear that when he leaves, the situation will rapidly return to its previous state, unfortunately.

    With regard to the SD40-2....

Most original SD40 locos were owned by Canadian railroads but all SD40s were refurbished into SD40-2s or replaced by them back in the 60s. SD40-2s have been around since the 70s.
So, given the representative time periods of both those routes, SD40-2 is the most appropriate loco for them.

Well, that explains why there are a lot of SD40-2s these days. Which means the CRR would have to be in the 80's then (like the TS1 version). And with a problem as CRR only bought 5 SD40-2s at the time. Guess we'll have to see what the result of the route is gonna look like when it's closer to release.

Even worse, those came in the Family Lines paint, not Clinchfield colors...
    42923342452_fab2572e3d_b.jpg

If we were gonna get a Dash 2 derivative, would of like to seen the SD45-2 instead make it in. The Clinchfield owned 18 of these units. Maybe a suggestion as a future DLC? 1823.jpg

That thought did occur to me as I haven't seen a single unit in a CRR livery. So me thinking about this, what are the odds that this route would be based more on the Seaboard System (equipment wise) rather than the original operators? That's just a thought though.

Then it would of made more sense to redo the GP38-2 rather than include the F7A and B units.

Can you add the Stadler Flirt 3 to Koblenz-Frankfurt on the roadmap because the train is included in the TS add-on an looks very nice.
    Its the same route so...

They should included the Stadler Flirt with Eurobahn livery as Loco DLC for Rhein Ruhr Osten from Hagen to Wuppertal as RE13
Oh wait they don’t wanna add new licenses like Eurobahn, Abellio or National Express

Let's say, this train doesn't run on Köln-Aachen these days... Why bother? It will be a new train, made for TSW2, so you will definitely get the chance, to create some scenarios with it and do some liveries for the 101 as well. And if they add services with new locos like they did in TSW2020, it will definitely come with services for Munich-Augsburg.

There IS no "promised update", the roadmap shows what is being worked on, it doesn't state when anything is going to be released

Good stuff - I'm happy with TSW2020 - the bundle was a great way to kick TSW off - and not seeing any reason to buy TSW2, steam and beautiful period transition era regional routes will change this

HUD - Low priority until steam - can we have different skins for this to tailor our environment ? Lovely period gauges and display fonts. So -
In settings - HUD style -
    1) Appropriate for loco
Individual options... steam, diesel, electric, UK, Europe, US, 1920, 1950, 1980, 2000.

Lots of options could eventually be required, but start with the basics, hopefully a simple graphics job ?

Mate, it doesn't run between FFM and Köln, that's the thing. It would most probably and people have nothing against it.

While it would be great to see BR101, I hope they put it on a different route thou I'm not going to turn it down between Köln and Aachen.

Another thing, that green SBahn looks kinkily perverse. Would like to see it in game ;)

No, they don't, it is just bad map design.
If you look closely, the dots actually don't touch the Köln station "box" as all the other lines do, instead they reach the Mönchengladbach "box". This means the train does not go via Köln Hbf. Instead these trains run from Aachen to Mönchengladbach via Herzogenrath (the other exit of Aachen).

I hope that with the Class 101 we are able to use Köln Yard. It has two turntables that are just sitting there and it is always busy whenever I have been past it.
