Greetings, as the question in the title suggests, is it possible to deactivate the reflections from inside the cabs (ICE, Talent 2) on the windshield? The ICE is extremly annoying I already moved back to TS2020 and for S-Bahn I play the Preserved Collection where this feature is not implemented. Ideas? Ini tweaks?
Exactly! It's like putting a coffee cup on the desk, it adds to the sense of being actually being there.
The reflection and the intention of having it is great but the execution of it isn't great can do my eyes sometimes
It would be more realistic if I was able to do something against it. The sunshield is not affecting this. Going 250 km/h just staring at LZB might be a realistic behaviour, but I don't think the Deutsche Bahn would think that's safe ;-)
I don’t know exactly how it looks on PC but on PS4 the reflection textures are really low resolution, so the screen reflections on the ICE look really bad. It makes everything that you can see through the reflections look like they are really low res too. If they were smoother, they would be still be annoying but wouldn’t look so awful. I think something should be done to eliminate them completely, realistic or not. I’ve noticed they disappear if you zoom right in but then you lose the sensation of speed due to the foreshortening caused by the zoom, but when the reflections are really bad I zoom in.
stujoy Exactly, the "low-res-area" in the ICE is what I'm refering to. Best thing I can do is turn on the cab-light and in effect brighten up that reflection a little bit
The windshields in general need tweaking. From what I noticed, the windshields themselves get motion blurred, which maybe why you're thinking it's low resolution "blurry", because at speed, the windshield itself or whatever effects on it, will blur just like your surroundings. If you have rain or snow on said windshield it looks like garbage.
The low resolution issue is separate to the motion blur as it affects all reflections even when stationary. The added effects of motion blur certainly don’t help. There’s also the reflection of the sun when it’s low in the sky behind you that affects flatter vertical windscreens and some instrument displays. It all adds up.
I know what you're talking about, but it's not applicable here since he's talking about reflections not that white artifact that appears in the ICE-3M. Also, disabling TAA? No way.
Really? I must admit I have not noticed any screen-space reflections unrelated to said artifact. Do you have any screenshots? EDIT: If it's in regards to the slight reflection at the bottom, this is also a product of TAA. TAA: FXAA: If you do not want to disable TAA, that is fine. It was merely a suggestion for anyone who would prefer to remove the effect. Tinkering with TAA settings may produce a better result but it is not an enterprise I have interest in pursuing. TAA causes all kinds of artifacts to the point where I just prefer to play with ReShade SMAA. https://docs.unrealengine.com/en-US/Engine/Rendering/ScreenPercentage/index.html
Again, the "low-res-center" to appear is heavily depending on weather settings TheShotte said - it works like intended on dry and cloudy days Next time the journey sends me into rain I'll post a screenshot
Agreed, on the ICE3M it's pretty annoying. I'd imagine real life train drivers would also be annoyed so I can't imagine it being very realistic.
Thanks for the feedback on this everyone, also really appreciate the video for further context. I will make a note of this and pass on your sentiments.
3 years and 2 game iterations later, not having played the Köln route in a long time, the first thing I see on my setup (i5-10600KF, 3060, TSW4, 1080p, ultra, TAA, no mods) is this: Anyone got any suggestions how to disable the reflections?
We fixed the reflection on the Wurzburg ICE3 but this fix hasn't yet been back ported to older models. Matt.
