I made this video a little while back: This is the freeware WCML - it's performance is reasonable. Are there lessons to be learned from the community and what they can achieve? Note: The 390 featured here uses AP's script updates and sounds.
That's another thing... why have they changed the horn? The horn on the new one has loads of reverb, as if they recorded it in a big enclosed station... so it sounds awful in the open air. So there's nothing endemic with the 390 making WCML slow then... I thought not, because I ran the new one up WCML Over Shap... and it was acceptable.
Is that the Alan Thompson Sim merged WCML? If so... I think that's the way forward. Shame I have no 390 though. I can still buy the crappy one, and reskin it fro AI I suppose.
Also worthy of note, is that that yours recognised a neutral section and the line voltage light went out, and it visibly lost power. The new 390 sailed right through every neutral section for me... nothing.
The 390 is okay, once the AP pack is applied to it. It's like paying another firm to finish the job every time.
Gotta correct you on this, there were at least (that I noticed) 10 maybe more instances between Euston and Birmingham where neutral sections are sign boarded and the line voltage light goes out , they don't last more than a second or two (no idea how realistic this is because I'm no expert) but they are definitely in DTG's WCML-S
Oh so APs enhancement works on the Avanti 390 then? I wasn't sure if the file structure was different at all from the Virgin version that was withdrawn.
I think the weather and track packs have been updated accordingly too. That's my Saturday night I know how to party.
Is the Class 390 in this video the discontinued DTG "TS Pro" Virgin Class 390 or the really old RSDL one (certainly looks like the new one)? I thought the AP sound pack only worked on the old one.
The AP sound pack works with the Virgin 390 (discontinued) and the new one (WCML South). It never worked with the old one.
Huh, I always thought it was the opposite. That's great news. EDIT: I must say, from the short bit of the video I watched it looks better than what I've seen of the DTG WCMLS in videos. One thing that probably makes a big difference is the higher quality tracks.
It is if you have the original Virgin 390, yes. Not so if you are waiting for Dovetail to fix the new one.
I'll be posting a WCML South video here soon (4k uploading and processing takes forever), with a good comparison video of other routes. It shows what DTG can do, and hopefully the end result will be up to standard.
Without further ado, here's the WCML South as it performs on my rig: YouTube has processed as far as 1080p, but 4k should be available shortly too. I'll be following this video up with a more comprehensive video featuring several routes, with exactly the same PC running them, same mods, just to show that this really is an anomaly of sorts and can be sorted out
As WCML South has automatically removed itself from my Quick Drive route list, it's the only way I can experience the route with a 390 at all right now. Talk about proper poverty quality. The next video will show what standard should have reached the customer base.
Why has it done that? Maybe they're tinkering with it already. I hope so... I really want that fixed and back in my Steam library.
Yep, I want it as it should be asap too.... I reckon it'll be brilliant once they figure out what's crippling it and remedy.
Here's a comparison video, showing off several routes and locomotives, with the same weather conditions featured on the last video of WCML South: This goes some way to show that Train Simulator is indeed very capable, and previous releases have not disappointed the customer base so harshly. Routes featured are by DTG and third party providers. Most locomotives featured in this video are modded or enhanced in some way.
Have you got a copy of your "DefaultPreset.ini" file? I'd like to see how your Reshade settings compare to mine.
