    General Information

The 3 Train is a part of the New York City Subway. It runs between Harlem - 148 St in Manhattan to New Lots Av in Brooklyn.

Trains must stop at the ‘10’ or ‘S’ stop marker at the end of the station.

The 3 Line is about 18 miles long and has 34 Stops during the day and 9 stops during late nights (12 AM - 5 AM). The 3 Train is always Express in Manhattan and Local in Brooklyn.

This line runs in a mix of different environments such as, At Grade (For a very short amount of time), Elevated, And Underground, this line has some nice views (and lots of trees) on the Elevated portion in Brooklyn.

The Elevated portions of this line are made out of steel, these Elevated structures have a very unique sound and this sound must be authentically recreated. Same thing for the underground parts (specifically in Manhattan)

MUST KNOW: 145 St has a short platform, conductors only open the doors in the first 5 cars of the train.

The 3 ONLY uses R62 subway cars. They run in 10 car formations (5+5). The conductor (Person that controls the doors) is always in the 6 car.

The Train Operator does not control the doors on this line. There should be a new mode introduced with this route (if made) to only be a conductor. The conductor is in the 6 car and must point at a Black and White striped board in the middle of the platform to show that they are paying attention and that the train is fully in the station. Conductors must look out of the window for 75 Ft while the train is departing the station.

    Service Patterns

The 3 runs Between 148 St and Times Square during late nights. Trains enter on the express tracks, unload passengers. Leave the station and pull up to the next signal, reverse ends, and reenter the station on the opposite express tracks, after that, trains return to 148 St.

Trains run in about 5-8 Minute intervals.

Come on, fellow railfans, like this suggestion so DTG can see that a good percentage of the community wants to see an NYC Subway route in TSW.

The 3 train is a good idea. I never really took the 3 train into Brooklyn to it’s outside portion. Every time I’m on the 7th Avenue line I always choose the 3 over the 2 any day lol
