Request for comments: I’ve been thinking about creating and posting several TSW 2020 tutorial videos (specifically on North American locos and train configuration) on youtube, or possibly hosting live streams, based on the following topics. These videos are meant to help out folks who are fairly new to TSW 2020 on some of the basics, and to help fill in the blanks a bit since the DTG game docs clearly have some issues covering everything (or covering it correctly). Just want to get some feedback from everyone here and get your take on this idea. Thanks in advance! basic loco controls locomotive cold start single loco operation multi-loco operation (MU) lighting controls (for 1 or 2 or 3+ locos) camera operation remote driving (via camera) multi-loco operation (DPU) open discussion (live stream) ...routes I’ll be using: for freight: Oakville Sub or UP (in Caltrain) for passenger: Caltrain
I think it’s a good idea. Some people learn by reading, others by watching demonstrations, so it could certainly help people get the most out of the game.
Yes! All useful bits of information that help to draw people into driving trains. The K.I.S.S. principle should be your guide.
Look up PTGrail on youtube... Instructional and route learning videos have had a lot of traction in the past so no reason they couldn't now
It is good idea. However is better that you add shutting procedure and how to menage an heavy fright train, expetially because you want to start with americans train. But yes wonderful idea, expetially if you want to exetend ut to all routes.
My suggestion would be that they do a specific loco guide, with the sections being what has been mentioned, that way if you want to know how to cold start, hook up, haul and assist on a specific loco you have a one stop video manual for it. Better that than have loads of different things in one video people have to search for and may need updating if one loco gets upgraded and others don't
Exactly. Exemple GP38 guide. And a complete guide of all the things. Honestly manuals are really boring and sometimes they could not help you in some cases so a video with a live action, in my point of view help a lot. Manuals are good just for the details. Also i think that first af all, for every kind of route a guide for the signals is the best things. Expetially for americans that have a lot of configuration (clear/approch/restricted ecc)
...this is exactly what I planned on doing- nice fairly short individual videos on specific topics (though some will be longer than others). That way folks can just call up the topic they’re interested in (like a learning module). Appreciate the feedback!
Thanks to everyone for all of the feedback so far... instructional videos like this sounded like a good idea to me- I know I could’ve used some of these when I first started playing TSW 2020 back in Mar/Apr of this year. ;-)
