It would be great if we could get the full length ECML. We could have 4 separate DLC... Kings Cross to Peterborough* Peterborough to York* York to Durham* Durham to Edinburgh Waverley* *Or different sections depending on length etc, including branches to Leeds etc. Rolling Stock: The Class 43 with Mk3 Coaches The Class 91 with Mk4 Coaches The Class 180 Adelante The Class 220/221 Voyager/Super Voyager The Class 222 Meridian The Class 800/801 Azuma The Class 802 Nova 1/Paragon It would be quite an ambitious undertaking, but it would be an awesome route to drive.
Would have a very diverse fleet of rolling stock. Probably wouldn’t work well in TSW due to the lack of services DTG provides though.
That would be a great plan for every mainline if doing so splitting it up and hopefully somehow mixing those.
This is what they could do. Have the four sections all planned out in advance and then release them as consecutive DLC as they build them. Each one could have stand alone services that also join up for the next one along. I’m pretty sure the guys at DTG could work out a timetable for each section that works as a whole if you run the route one section after the other. It could potentially be a huge undertaking but I’m sure there’s a way that a multiple DLC route could be a big winner for them in sales numbers. If when all the separate DLC come out a fully merged version then becomes available for those who have purchased all four individual sections or as a one off expensive purchase choice that would also be great. Ideas like this are what could give TSW a big boost. Of course any ECML plan would have to include some sort of Deltic action so what era they make the route in could be contentious. And due to its length, four sections may not be enough, so that’s something else to ponder.
I would start with Peterborough to York then once those gaswork tunnels are completed then would love to see Kings Cross added as a merge with Peterborough - York
