Definitely steam! It keeps me on my feet especially on tough grades.

Steam when I want to really drive, diesel or electric when I am feeling lazy and want to just watch the scenery go by :)

Diesel for me, I feel a lot of nostalgia for when that era came.

I love steam, but find driving difficult, particularly on steep gradients.

Diesel for me! Nothing like pushing the limits and dominating the rails, hauling heavier and longer freight trains under American motive power!

Nothing is more satisfying than the chugging (admittedly coming from a sound pack as opposed to default sounds) of a GE FDL engine plus a good K5HL.

I like to try and conquer the intricate control of steam, but I also love the sound of a diesel like the thumper 205 or the BR232. With the help of AP, to be honest, most trains satisfy that itch to get immersed on a dark rainy night that your eyes can hardly penetrate.

I voted for electric, 'cause I am currently totally enthusiastic about DB's electric locos, but in all fairness I have to admit that I also like driving diesel locos. Steam engines are intriguing and they look absolutely fantastic, but my driver skills are not yet up to the standards so that I would particularly enjoy driving them.

Diesel would be my first choice, Electric second and steam for third and the pure spectacle of sound and vision of clouds of smoke etc, but generally depends on my mood.

Diesel. I mainly use classes 143, 166, 42 (Western Hydraulics Pack), 35 (Western Hydraulics Pack), 52 (Western Hydraulics Pack and the stock RSC one), and 33 (WSR). I only have the workshop Electrified Riviera Line (overhead wires are invisible, due to my lack of electrified rivera line's requirements), and the London to Brighton line, and for British EMUs, I only have the 415, 442 and 377 (LTB). Also, does the GT3 Gas Turbine count as a steam or a diesel engine? Thanks!

Diesel trains, all around (favorites being: P32AC-DM and P42DC mostly. UK wise, BR Classes: 166, 143, 43 (HST)). Electric trains follows suit, second to diesel (too many favorites). Do appreciate some steam loco ops, every now and then.

Electrics, then diesel. I like 3rd rail electrics though. And hope to see more of in TS via LIRR, and Metro-North, and other American rails where that type of power is used. Diesel I like as well because you can run them on any track. Powered or Non-powered.

Probably modern DMUs and locos, but quite a bit of electric traction too :)
