This happened to a brand new class 70. It was dropped from about 20ft at Newport as it was being unloaded off a ship from the US, it hadn't even ran on British soil yet. I'm pretty sure it was severely damaged, with bent frames etc, so it was shipped back to the US where it stayed but was partially repaired so it can work as a shunter at the GE works.
...yeah, nothing funny about this to me. What a waste of a perfectly good locomotive, sure glad no one was hurt.
