So my first service on the new route. Pulling out the station (don’t know what one as no names on map, one that Matt did the night shot on) and pulling out it’s averaging 26fps.
I do have everything cranked up but that seems heavy on a i9 10900, 32gb ram, and 2080ti.

How are other people finding it?

Just finished two first introductions. Also I noticed significant drop in FPS.
16GB RAM, 1060. Other routes work fine Between 60-45 FPS.

I’m running on ultra but yeah a big drop still (75%)

when out on the mainline it’s between 50-79fps so that’s ok

I have a ryzen 7 3700x, rtx 2060 super and 32gb ram. Drops to around 25fps in the busier sections but getting upto 70 fps on the short section I have played out of Munich so far, seems to be quite big stutters also.

Wow, no wonder the consoles are struggling

I was just thinking the same there. Must be caning them or some major optimisation

Apparently it just runs very poorly on console. Glad I didn't purchase it (I'm on console) hopefully it behaves for the PC guys and gals

It's probably largely due to those 3000 signals that are having a field day.

On Tuesday's stream they said there is some considerable optimisation going to be required to the game as a whole as each route they issue diminishes the performance of the game for everyone, even if they didn't buy that route. E.g. If I only have the base game, by the time they have issued 5 new DLCs my base game is almost unplayable.
    Relevant section:

That certainly is something of a priority fix IMO. It is no wonder people are saying things are getting worse and worse, that is exactly why!

Just trying it again during day and running it back to the 3000. This is the result

I've only done timetables drives so far in the ICE 3, BR 146, and the new Sbahn train. Even in Munch I get a good 50-60 fps though this route does seem to suffer from the TSW stutters more than others.

    4K Resolution
    i7-9700k
    RTX 2080 Ti
    32GB RAM
    All options maxed
    130% render scaling in game
engine.ini tweaks for foliage LOD and shadow, draw distance, and object LOD and shadow.

I had a really big stutter about 25km short of Augsburg (in among the solar farms), much more than the standard 'load a new frame'. But generally getting 40-45fps on 4k Ultra, from a 2070, 16GB, i7-4790 - so I'm happy with that.

Also got a frame drops at solar farms from 54-58 to 20-28, but surprisingly no frame drops in Munich.

Might I suggest you run it on DX12. I'm on a 3900X & 2080ti, DX12, 4K Ultra with 120% screen percentage, a considerable number of engine.ini tweaks and Nvidia Control Panel enhancements and I'm getting a constant capped 60fps the route over.

If you have a high-end machine forcing it to run under DX12 (even though not officially supported) makes a massive difference.

During a stream, Sam mentioned that consoles actually perform slightly better than PC in the Munich area. It should not be surprising, since PC uses DX11 by default and Xbox (which has '8 cores') uses DX12. Even though DTG has denied that they have done or will do anything with DX12, whatever unconfigured state they left it in works very well on higher core CPUs! I wish they would give it more attention.

I have a nigh on identical other than i9 10900.
Try it on 200%. I’m still getting decent FPS and the power lines look a lot better

So they should! You’re effectively rendering the game in 8K.

Are you using an engine.ini tweaks? My fps falls to the 30s at 200%.

no that’s beyond my technical expertise. I was getting 110fps at 100%. Now I’m anywhere between 30-60 route dependant. I was initially thinking that’s no good but gameplay was I’ve noticed no difference whatsoever in terms of it being a lesser fluid experience. Very occasional dip below but similar places to where I was getting dips on 100%

are you going to keep it at 200%? or go back to 100%? not try it yet on any other routes but will today.

I’d take these numbers with a pinch of salt if I were you.

4K at 200% is 8K. I just tried it on a 3900x, 2080ti OC and DX12 and I’m getting 24fps at Augsburg on the new route, in rain and mist. In DX11 it would be nowhere near that.

I find it hard to believe that people are able to effectively render the game in 8K on a 2080ti and still get 60fps.

I might be wrong but until we see proof I’d be a bit skeptical.

May be slightly different for me as I’m on a 1440p gaming monitor so not 4k. It’s all route and weather dependant I guess as I’ve not tried in the rain

That makes a big difference. 1440p at 200% is just over 4K. That’s a win win.

I kinda regret getting a 4K monitor because anything less than 4K looks just awful, but scaling it up like this is beyond current gen hardware. Maybe the new 3090 could do it but I’m struggling to believe anyone is getting 60fps with 4K native rendered at 200% on a 2080ti.

My new 3440x1440 screen looks quite good for train sim, and I don't think I could ever go back to a 16:9 monitor now. Perhaps 4k has slightly more visual clarity, but to me the wider viewing angle is far more immersive.

A GPU upgrade is in order because it makes my 1070 scream! Though it miraculously does manage 50-55FPS on WSR and RT. If your 2080ti can handle 4k, it can also handle 3440x1440 with upscaling headroom to spare.
