When driving Class 31 on TVL its passenger service run, why the 101 cars have engines turned on? Also I tried to turn them off but it can not be done.

I felt it was indelicate to try, so I averted my gaze.

You can turn the engines off, but first you should turn the masterkey of the 101. After that you can turn off the engines.

Yes indeed. But would be normal to have them off by default. Cheers.

The 101 in these scenarios are supposed to be broken in some way and the 31 is running as thunderbird (rescue). Also it was a very economical way to make the 31 DLC more attractive without including extra stock i.e. coaches.

would it make more sense to just fix the
no idea what is what, but if somethig is borken, then the logical would be to fix it

So if the passenger trian is broken, then just fix it, and no use the big flatnose to peolple train, and the same if the big flatnse is broken then why use a pasenger train to pu;ll it while do people train

Some times you can’t just ‘fix it’, hence the need for rescue engines to avoid disrupting the line all day.

A perfectly logical concept railways still use.

I didn’t like myself but 31+101 was a common combo in the late 80’s.

What if you can't fix it in 5 minutes? Then you need a locomotive to pull it, my dude
