Would need a bit more info on your preferences. Any specific country? Freight or passenger? Modern or historic? Also, if you don't own the routes yet, might want to check out the TSW2020 package, includes a few routes for a decent price tag.
East Coastway or any of the German routes feature modern passenger trains. I guess Peninsula Corridor is also pretty modern.
I personally used to play GWR on TSW 2020 but now can't until it is brought as a preserved collection. I REALLY enjoy East Coastway and maybe you would enjoy it too. Hope this helps.
I'd suggest waiting to see what the upcoming SEHS line is like before purchasing ECW. That way you can choose between the two routes.
Hauptstrecke München Augsburg: -High speed strain (maximum 2 stops) -commuter train (high frequency of stops) Hauptstrecke Rhein Ruhr: -commuter train (high frequency of stops) -regional service (medium amount of stops) Schnellfahrstrecke Köln Aachen: -High speed strain (1 stop) -regional service (medium amount of stops) Long Island Railroad: (includes 1 train only) -commuter train (high frequency of stops) -regional service (medium amount of stops) Obviously there are more but these are passenger routes first and foremost, other usually have mixed freight and passenger.
The German routes have some nice variety and it’s good fun learning the signalling systems- doing a drive with all the safety systems on and not fluffing it up is very satisfying. They all look spectacular so it’s a question of whether you want to do commuter trains or a bit of regional passenger and freight. If you prefer modern UK you can’t go wrong with Great Western Mainline which will come out next. You can bomb along at 125 or do a stopper and there is plenty of freight. My personal favourite is northern transpennine which is set in the 80’s which will really come into its own with the scenario planner. The gradients and older trains make it a real challenge and it’s very atmospheric. I’ve got east coastway too, it’s a nicely done route but personally I find it a little boring. If you like stopping services on EMU’s then it’s perfect. I’d personally advise against west Somerset- It’s a lovely route but mind-numbingly boring unless you enjoy chugging along at 25mph. If you do then go for it! Or save up for London to Faversham which will no doubt be decent. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with the TGV line.
If you go for modern passenger UK, wait for London-Faversham. If you are OK with German routes, I suggest to get Rhein-Ruhr Osten and Main-Spessart Bahn first, then Munich-Augsburg. RRO and MSB are good routes and MAG will benefit a lot from these routes.
You're very welcome! Just for more info, East Coastway can get a bit boring since the freight rides are a bit short and I prefer them to be long distances. Also, the class 377 stops at a lot of stations so if you don't enjoy that, you might prefer the new high-speed British route coming out soon.
Finally, I have to worry you a bit - if you like TSW ... you will have to buy everything. It's just a matter of order. GL & HF! PS You'll have to or you just want it badly, awfully hard! YHYHYHYHY
