TSW2020 DLCs prices vs TSW2 DLCs prices?
    Is that a bit weird?

The same DLC for 2020 costs sometimes less than for TSW2. What for?

    UPDATE

Some "nasty" $$$ combos discovered by nice people - read below :D

I just been looking, and noticed a couple which are not on discount at all for TSW2.

So wondering if I got the discounted version for TSW2020, would it copy over to TSW2?

Yes. I just did a little shopping. It immediately downloaded to TSW2. I don't have 2020 installed :)
But of course, I own 2020!

Grabbed the DB BR 204 for 20% off, that one was missing from my collection!
Driving it right now, what a great machine.
I see the problem with the muffled sound, but when I open the windows it sounds fine.

I am so happy too! 204 & 182 in the garage, at last! Waiting for 363 and TRAXX \o/
Yeah, this is really strange. Hope DTG will fix. /UPDATE/ I mean prices for TSW2 DLCs, for the sake of nice people not having TSW2020 :)

I already have TSW2020 but not LIRR or MSB, if I buy it again it will only install those extra routes right not the whole game again?

I don't understand that part, sorry - what do You mean: buy it again?

TSW2020 licenses go automatically to TSW2.

If You own some TSW2020 DLC or you will buy some DLC for TSW2020 - you don't have to install TSW2020 and all these DLCs automatically install in TSW2.

I mean I have TSW2020, but I bought it when it only included NEC, GWE, CSX and RT. The TSW2020 that is now on sale 50% off includes both LIRR and MSB which I don't have. So I could get both if I buy TSW2020 again?

Edit, I'll answer my own question, when I add it to the cart it says:

Train Sim World® 2020: According to our records, you already own one or more of the items included in this package on Steam.
If purchasing for yourself, you will not receive an extra copy of:
    • Train Sim World® 2020
    • Train Sim World®: Great Western Express
    • Train Sim World®: Northern Trans-Pennine: Manchester - Leeds Route Add-On
So the answer is it will only add the new items into my library.

With both of those routes being on sale in TSW2020 it might not be a bad idea to get them, as if I am not mistaken they should automatically carry over to you TSW2.

It works, i did it twice with TSW to TSW 2020 and then to TSW 2020 Digital Deluxe Edition.

Only the DLC you don't have will be installed.
The rest will expire because you won't get a second copy of TSW 2020
or DLC you already own. If the price is right, go for it. ;)

There is nothing to fix, it's working as intended. As long as you have a valid license for TSW2020, you can buy DLC for it and unlock them preserved in TSW2. If you don't own TSW2020, then you can't use that option.

Oh, of course, You are right when about licensing mechanism - I mean price fix :) Some TSW2 prices are different, so if someone doesn't own '2020...

Obligatory reminder because someone got burned by not double checking before purchase in a thread a week or so ago:

In order for the license purchase of TSW2020 DLC to carry over to TSW2, you must own a base copy of TSW2020. If you don't own TSW2020 but do own TSW2 and you buy a TSW2020 DLC, you'll just have a useless TSW2020 DLC that will not work with TSW2. You MUST own both base games (though it doesn't need to be installed, just owned in your Steam library).

    Thanks for explaining mattdsoares!

Still I have one question. I own both TSW2020 and TSW2 on Steam. I bought Northern Trans-Pennine long before TSW2 was even announced. Now when Northern Trans-Pennine gets Preserved in the next batch of Preserved Collection, I would like to experience it in it's full glory, with the BR Heavy Freight Pack. This DLC is currently on sale for TSW2020, but not yet available for TSW2. So if I buy it now for TSW2020, will it also come available for TSW2 once it gets Preserved? Really curious about this one ;)

Yes, but BR Heavy Freight pack is not going to release alongside NTP, according to Sam on the last roadmap stream. They had to push it back because the team focused more of their time on GWE (it being an older route requiring more work to be done) and they did not leave enough time to get BR Heavy Freight finished before the next release. However, it is coming, and if you buy it for TSW2020 now, you will automatically receive it for TSW2 when it comes out later.

Thanks for answering! Yes I saw that on the stream, they talked jokingly about calling it Preserved Collection 5a and 5b :D I'll buy it today, thanks again! ;)

They do that on purpose because TSW2020 is older and in that case those who don't want to buy TSW2 or can't afford it can still get a bit of extra content for their version. (Which works out great for those of us who have both games. Although I bought the TSW2020 deluxe myself purely to unlock extra routes on TSW2.)

I went from TS1 right to TSW2 and now I am looking to pick up a DLC on sale. I only own the 3 routes that came with the original release. Which of the ones now on sale is the most worth it, I am not looking to spend more than 15$ if I don't have to.

I am wondering since TSW2020 is on sale right now and for 15$ it includes totally different routes to TSW2 do those also unlock as preserved collection if I am buying the base game only now?

That seems like a really good deal getting 2 DLC now and 2 DLC when next set of preserved stuff goes online

IF you own the base game TSW2020 AND base TSW2 any DLC you buy for TSW2020 will automatically also apply to TSW2 with the exception of one of the DLC CSX trains and the Northeast Corridor (NEC). So yes. If you own both base games and the TSW2020 DLC is cheaper...then buy that and you'll get it for both games.

Only thing for me was that I did not own the base game. However buying the base game now seems to unlock those DLCs also for TSW2 :)

I managed to get hold of the heavy freight pack for around £6 a couple of months ago and as others have confirmed it will eventually be released as part of the preserved collection.
Northern Trans Pennine is still my favourite route and the freight pack is well worth having IMO, even at full price.

NTP is beautiful indeed :) It absolutely feels like a 1983 route, with some cool trains and old coaches. I believe BR Heavy Freight will make this even better. I'm looking forward to playing the Class 40 with the headcodes on it :D I'll have to be patient though, since it will come with Preserved Collection 5b. Before that comes 5a, with the base route NTP in it so that will be fun ;)

I'm stupid, sorry. I totally forgot that GWE was coming too :) That is, in my opinion, one of the most "complete" routes in terms of what you can drive. Commuter, high speed and freight in one package!
Can't wait to drive a Class 43 HST slowly into London Paddington again, that was always such a beautiful moment...
