On the latest update there is the following point: What does this actually mean in a user friendly manner? I've seen reports of draw distance being reduced on console. Has this been done across the board?
I'd read it as meaning, if you can optimise memory (i.e. save memory) then you will less likely hit the cases where you run out of memory completely. The code should handle out of memory. But it's easier if that never happens.
Was the title unsteady, did it keep falling over? Do Dovetail employees really talk to each other like this?
(DTG Manager)Alright guys the next patch is coming today. It includes something called Improved memory optimisations toward increased title stability. (DTG employee 1)Oh this Improved memory optimisations toward increased title stability sounds nice this will definitely benefit the player (DTG employee 2) Yes this Improved memory optimisations toward increased title stability will be a nice surprise for the player. (The Player) What does Improved memory optimisations toward increased title stability mean?
Hey I can see how that point is slightly confusing to interpret, essentially we have made some software changes that require less memory. This is to help avoid situations where some users are experiencing crashes. It should not have affected draw distance.
DTG requirements for TSW2 are minimum 8GB of memory, recommended still 8GB and video card 2GB and 4GB respectively. I would not play the game with these specs on PC. I don't know what is available for consoles.
I know this is the PC section of the forums, but I'm genuinely curious– would this performance improvement help facilitate the possibility of bringing back layers on HMA for consoles soon? Is there anything new to be said on that front?
A suggestion for the future - it would be nice if patch notes like this one were worded more user friendly and less ‘robotic sounding’.
You really can't word "memory optimisation" any more user friendly. Those who do not know what computer memory or optimisation is, will not really understand it either way or care about it at all.
