Hi guys, the default 156 loads ok on ts. I downloaded the arriva trains northern reskin and followed the instructions. It loads the cab and passenger view but is invisible from outside views, I cant see any geopc file in the oovee folder. Where is the default 156 folder with the geopc that I can copy over, or am I confused? Many thanks.
Mine are in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\Oovee\BRClass156Pack01\RailVehicles\Diesel\BRClass156\Default\Engine Who's reskin are you trying to install? Is it the one here? https://superalbs.weebly.com/train-sim-reskins.html
https://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/rf72dmu.html It's the 156 Arriva Trains Northern. I just noticed my BRclass156 folder doesnt even have the default folder, just the reskin folder, which might explain something, how i would rectify it though i dont kow.
Did you run the batch file? It woudl have put a batch file called 'InstallMe156ATN' into your assets folder.
Ahhh.... You'll probably need to unpack the folder. There a file called "BRClass156Pack01Assets.ap" in your Oovee/BRClass156 folder... You need to unpack it first using 7zip (or equivalent). Install this.... https://www.7-zip.org/a/7z1900-x64.exe Then go back into your BRclass156 folder.. RIGHT click on the "BRClass156Pack01Assets.ap" file, and select "extract here" from the 7zip menu.
Thanks for that the arriva one is now visible from all angles but isn't showing driving controls and wont drive even from keyboard commands, this is all so complicated
If it's any consolation, I just tried to install it and it failed ( I don't have the AP 156 sound pack either). It was there in the QD menus, but there were only 8 routes showing when I selected it (normally I have about 13 pages worth of routes). When I tried to run it, I got an OOM error and game quit. Maybe it needs the AP sound pack, which I don't think is available any longer. The good news is, that same ex-Northern Spirit Arriva livery is part of the AP version of the 156 I can highly recommend the AP version... it is a huge improvement over the Oovee version.
Oh god, I've just unintalled all 156 stuff and then payed for and downloaded the AP one. Now I cant drive them either, something is really wrong, please help
Start from the beginning Unpack the .ap folder into the right location (if you have 7-zip this is as simple as right click, unpack here) install any AP enhancement packs you have for that unit install any additional assets packs install any reskins install any AP realistic branding packs if you have any issues then the best thing to do is uninstall the pack from steam, delete the folder in assets, then reinstall from scratch in steam, wait for the folder to reappear and start again as above It's a complex beast because there's so many moving parts
The AP 156 is not an enhancement pack. It has no requirements. It's a stand alone asset and should install regardless of what he's done to the Oovee one. He also doesn't really need the Oovie one any longer either now he has that. The AP one has it's own installer, and should just work. How did you do that? That's the only operation you've done that could have broken something. Did you uninstall using Utlilities.exe, or just by deleting folders? Is it just not showing in the quick drive menus, or do you mean it's there, but not working?
I uninstalled the arriva trains northern reskin via utilities. I then uninstalled oovee 156 via dlc manager on steam. I tried reinstalling AP, didn't work. Then installed Oovee again, didn't work. I managed to get the controls overlay to show by choosing expert controls. On basic, they didn't show at all and even on expert the controls didn't do anything. Anyway I've uninstalled the game now and I'm in the process of reinstalling it. Once its reinstalled and I've checked if the oovee 156 is behaving itself, I'll then install the AP as per its guide.
When you say the AP didn't work did you read the manual as it is not the same as the default Class 156. Start by trying one in Quick Drive as you take as lone as you want to learn the differences
I've Reinstalled the whole game from scratch and loaded up the default oovee 156 and with the basic controls setting, no controls appear on the HUD, and when using the controls manually in the cab, i cant get the train to move either. Nothing else should be causing this problemm as i did a full clean reinstall of the whole game.
From page 16 of the manual "Simple mode. Due to the advance technology incorporated into the Class 156 Pack we were unable to provide support for the “simple mode” in RailWorks. Please use “Expert mode”." So simple mode controls may be disabled on this one
Ok guys, thank you all for your help, there were issues but now I've reinstalled the games, I think it's just a case of me getting to grips with how to operate these particular models. I think both the oovee and the AP 156 need you to be in expert controls and it's quite fiddly to get going. Whereas I am used to using simple controls and sliding up the throttle and I'm off.
The expert controls in this case aren't actually all that expert anyway. The 156 has a throttle and a brake so other than making sure that you turn the power off before putting the brake on that's about it. The only other advice would be that AP packs tend to need you to put the reverser in neutral if you're stopping for longer than a few seconds (such as arriving early at a station stop) so getting into the habit of putting it in neutral when you stop is probably a good idea with the AP packs otherwise you could end up shutdown and that's really (really) annoying
Can someone please tell me the procedure to get the train moving from engine off on startup in quick drive with the Armstromg powerhouse 156 please, its proving impossible, I cant get the engine to start.
I don't know if this helps - I dl this in 2012 and it pertains to the OOvee version only: My thanks to the unknown contributor. Class 156 how to drive Since this question has already appeared, and is likely to appear again, here's a checklist. Despite what some people say, there is nothing about the procedure in the Class156_Manual.pdf file. There is, however, a tutorial that will take you through these steps. Under Drive by Train, find Class 156 ScotRail 2000. In the Standard Scenario list, you should find Class 156 Driving Tutorial that uses the TestTrak route. Starting with the reverse in neutral, the throttle at 0%, and the brakes fully applied... 1. Make sure the engine is running (approx. 600 RPM is normal at idle). If it isn't, press Z to start the engine. 2. Press W once to move the reverser from Off to Forward. Note: You MUST use the W key for this step ... moving the reverser lever itself won't do anything. 3. The AWS self-test will cause the AWS horn to sound and the reset button to illuminate. Cancel the alert by pressing Q, or by clicking on the AWS reset button. 4. The reverser will have been set to Reverse (-100%) during the AWS test. Press W twice to move it to forward again, or use the mouse to move it. 5. [Optional] Set the exterior lights as desired -- the headlights, tail lights, and marker lights are all controlled by separate switches, or use the H, J, and K keys. 6. Make sure DRA is off (the red DRA light should be dark). If it is on, press Y to turn it off, or click on the red light. 7. Increase the throttle to 200% - 400% by pressing A as necessary, or use the mouse to move the throttle. 8. Release the brakes completely by pressing ; as necessary, or use the mouse to move the lever to 0%. Once you've started moving the first time, stopping and starting are pretty much the same as in other DMU's. After a station stop, however, you must remember to increase the throttle and THEN release the brakes. If you switch cabs, however, you must repeat all of the above steps. If you don't see/hear the AWS test, then you will know that the train won't drive properly.
Thank you and could you tell me if it loads on quick drive with the engine off for you please and if so, how you get it going
Dean I tried 3 or 4 of QD scenarios with the AP156, wherry Lines, Liverpool to Manchester, and in both cases the engine was already started! I could not load a QD scenario with the engine off. Can you give us the QD example you have with the engine off? That is, Specific AP variant, rolling stock, route and weather, season and time parameters.
No, the engine is running on quick drive. Everything should have the engine running in quick drive. I've never once seen any diesel traction start with no engine running in quick drive no matter what it is. As Peter above says, what specific livery variant, route, weather and time... I'll see if I can replicate the issue, but as you can see below... for me it loads with the engine running... everything always does. If you want something "cold and dark" at the start of a scenario, you have to make the scenario with that set - otherwise the engine will be running on start. HD version is still processing as I post this... check back in a few mins if SD makes your eyes bleed
can i please have the exact step by steo you did to get it to move please and btw, for me its not working on multiple settings on quick drive, ive tried different skins and different routes
Sorry, my bad it's not that the engine isn't on, you can't tell unless you go to an outside view with laptop speakers. I just got the thing to move at all
In the QD's above - this is how I got the Class 156 to move: 1) Turn the master key in by pressing Shift+W. 2) Move the reverser to the ‘neutral’ position by pressing W. 3) Cancel the AWS self-test alarm by pressing Q. 4) Turn off the tail lights by pressing K. 5) Turn the marker lights on by pressing J. 6) Turn the headlights on by pressing H or Shift+H. 7) Turn the Driver Reminder Appliance (DRA) off by pressing Y. If you do NOT get the AWS alarm at (3) - it won't move. 4.5.and 6 for completeness. Ctrl + D may disable the DRA! Then use W and A to move forward or the mouse.
excluding lights... Shift+W to turn on the masterkey Press W to move the reverser into forward press Q to cancel AWS test Press ; to put brakes in step 1 press A to move power handle between notch 2 and 4 as engine revs climb, release brakes by pressing ; apply more power with A as appropriate
