Now that the new consoles are upon us, I think TSW on the PS5/XSX needs a Render Distance increase.

The new consoles have much more power than the previous gen, so they can definitely handle it.

The render distance increase would go along great with the 60fps gameplay. It feels weird to see track load in just 20 ft in front of you and everything in the distance popping in.

There is no dedicated version of TSW for the new consoles. It is released for the current consoles so has to continue to work on those. Increasing the render distance would break the game for the machines it is specifically released for, so whether the new consoles can handle it is neither here nor there. For increased draw distances, DTG will have to release the game specifically for the new consoles.

However there is already differentiation between PS4 base and PS4 Pro for screen resolution control, so a similar scaling control available to the machines capable of using it wouldn't be a new precedent.

DTG can just release a patch for the game on PS5. They won't need to make a whole new game for PS5. That'll probably come with TSW 2022. Sony has been talking about how devs can release updates for backward compatible games to upgrade them for PS5.

Just giving us options in the settings would be ideal. That way, each of us can tweak the settings how we would like them to be. Maybe some people want increased performance (smooth, high frame rate) or increased graphical quality where everything is loaded in instantly i.e. no shadow creep, no trees materialising in more detail as you get closer etc.
