Hi guys, if most of my uk EMU and DMU trains are alphabetically listed in the letter C section of the train selector list, all starting with the word class, then I'd like all of them to be in that section. It's annoying for example that AP Class 156 isn't labelled as "Class 156 (AP)" or that the Oovee 156 is labelled as "BR Class 156" rather than "Class 156 (Oovee)". It would make sense to have them all in the right order and it would be much more organised. How can I change the names of the trains and change their alphabetical order please?

Yeh fair enough looks like a ball ache, then I guess my suggestion would change to dovetail games making such tasks extremely easy and user friendly, like just being able to click on the title of the train and alter the text and it recorders it automatically
You quickly get used to where everything is. I have FOUR entries for class 91 now... the DTG one... the AP one, the IC225 VTEC and LNER one that the BH reskins installed, and finally the Major Wales VTEC pack (which has some excellent weathered skins), and they're all on completely different pages in the QD menu. (shrug).
Yeh, I'm used to it, it would just be great to see DTG release an update to allow the user to easily customise the listing names and order.
Do what it says above. It's not actually hard to do and if you mess it up? reinstall the pack and they get rewritten If anything that's the downside, if you update the pack or reinstall the 3rd party pack then they get written back Messing about with BIN files (which are encrypted XML) can allow you to do things you never knew were possible. Just remember to back them up (copy and rename to filename.bak or similar) first so you can restore as necessary
The reason why your AP 156 is not in the same order as other DTG Dmus is AP did it that way. But you expect DTG to bring out something to fix it? It is sometimes a pain getting the AP stock going why don't you suggest DTG should fix somebody else's product?
The sim is their product and the user should be able to resort/rename/reorganise items easily without having to be an expert in computer code
Editing a text file isn't "computer code"... The only reason it's even partially "complicated" is because DTG changed the .xml files into .bin but the mechanism to switch between them is also provided.
My comment was on the expectation that it should be something that DTG would make possible. Editing bin files is straight forward - if you know what you are doing
Pain in the ass is relative: Compared to doing nothing, and not caring where in the menus your 156 is located... it's a pain in the ass.
If I want to find something in Quick Drive I just use the search box top right of the screen - Much better than searching thru 73 pages of stuff Put in 150 and I get this Peter
A lot of it is free reskin stuff, and can be consolidated... As an example, in his screenshot you'll see 7 examples of 150, and that's just one of 2 pages... as they're individual free reskins. The AP Packs would pretty much consolidate those into 2 tiles as all those liveries are included.
That depends if you wish to stop using something and pay for the AP version If it's not broke - don't fix it
I'm just explaining why you have so many pages in all likelihood. I wasn't asking you to justify it NO one's saying the DTG 150 is broken either... just obviously not as good, or featured as the AP version. Some see that as worth paying for.. some, like you don't. That's fine.
