Tracking camera is something the old versions of Train Simulator had, but was removed for TSW and TSW2 so we only have the current free camera. I would like to have a static tracking camera, that could be placed either at a fixed distance from train or at the nearest station/level crossing ahead. From that position you could then use the current free camera if you want to pan it around manually or just leave it in auto tracking. Without that you always need to manually move the free camera from train to the position ahead of train everytime, which is ok, but not practical at all if you want to see a series of camera shots as your train runs the line. An easy integration would be to follow the same method used by the "2 key" and "3 key" external views, to avoid the need of a new key binding: first press of "8 key" triggers the free cam, and the second press could trigger the new tracking cam, or viceversa, as you like. Cheers
A much-needed addition considering the fact the free cam has a top speed of about 200 kph, so it can't overtake trains on high-speed lines.
A tracking camera would be nice. It would need a dedicated key on the keyboard, let’s go for the 4 key as it’s the next one up. They had this in Trainz when I used to have that and it would revert to the external train camera whenever there wasn’t a tracking camera in the vicinity. Then when the next one was in range it would change to that. I always thought that was a neat trick. A system where once the tracking camera was activated any touch of the camera controls would stop the auto panning and transfer control to you would be even better than the Trainz cam.
Thanks guys. Hopefully our dear Community Manager can handover the request to devs so that it can be put on the roadmaps. Cheers
