DTG Protagonist Do you have the list ready for tonight’s live stream? You said you’d tell us the most requested routes during the stream on Tuesday.
Top 6 were: 6: Liverpool to Manchester 5: Anything in the Netherlands 4: Any underground route 3: Anything in Australia 2: East Coast Main Line 1: West Coast Main Line
Also 1,2 and 6 for me. lots of people want more underground which personally I can’t understand. Bakerloo is enough for me
50 routes in the list but some are tied, hence I will start the list at 23rd place. I can’t believe Cambrian coast is only joint 20th... it’s a beautiful part of the world and in cab signalling too good to see some healthy variation in the list though.
Overall I pretty much agree with the list. I'm surprised the Cumbrian Coast didn't make it on there at all!
Yeah. I‘d love to have it. It was my first introduction to train sims when MSTS came out. Lots of nostalgia for me.
Sam had said in the stream they didn't wan't to make it a full announcement because people would think all their dreams would come true & that DTG are doing these routes even though it's a list of possible candidates for routes
Fixed Iskra’s list to put it in a more traditional format but still in reverse order. 45) Any Swiss route 45) Any Austrian Route 45) Cajon Pass 45) london-Edinburgh 45) Any Indian Route 45) North Wales Coastal 45) Orient Express 45) Semmeringbahn 45) Severn Valley Railway 40) Fife Circle 40) Great Eastern Mainline 40) Horseshoe Curve 40) The Hudson Line 40) Isle of Wight 37) Settle-Carlisle 37) Any Eurostar Route 37) London-Peterborough 33) Tyne Wear Metro 33) Any French Route 33) Any Route that hits Chicago 33) The Cambrian Coast Route 29) A Berlin route 29) A LGV route 29) Merseyrail 29) New Zealand Route 25) A Norfolk Southern (US) route 25) London-Norwich 25) Long Island Railroad extension 25) Gotthard line 23) Any Scottish Route 23) Sherman Hill 22) Marias Pass 19) A Canadian Route 19) South Western Main Line (UK) 19) West Highland Line 18) Any Japanese Route 17) Any Italian Route 16) London-Brighton 13) Riviera Line (UK) 13) North Eastern Corridor (US) 13) London-Birmingham 12) Metronorth 9) NYC Subway 9) Midland Mainline (UK) 9) Edinburgh-Glasgow 8) London-Portsmouth 7) Pacific Surfliner 6) Liverpool to Manchester 5) Anything in the Netherlands 4) Any underground route 3) Anything in Australia 2) East Coast Main Line 1) West Coast Main Line
There is no 46, there are several at 45. Sam called them equal 23rd but they are all actually equal 45th, and that’s how I put them.
This list is in my opinion a pretty bad representation of the entire community. It just shows that there is a large English speaking majority on the forums from English speaking countries, as the amount of British, American (and even Australian) routes is quite disproportionate.
I mean alot of people have not much info on other countries railroads, and are listed as such... 45) Any Swiss route 45) Any Austrian Route 45) Any Indian Route 33) Any French Route 23) Any Scottish Route 18) Any Japanese Route 17) Any Italian Route 5) Anything in the Netherlands 3) Anything in Australia Most of the English routes are usually listed by name, destinations or operators.
It’s not surprising for a company based in England that produce a game where there is a lot of content from English speaking countries to have a mainly English speaking fan community. The forum is English language too for those reasons. They do make an awful lot of German content too though. Nobody has engineered the community to be this way but it is easier for English speaking people to join in. I would be very unlikely to join a Chinese train sim community, so the North Wales coastal route would probably be under-represented in their top 50, as they would be missing my vote.
No Yugoslavian narrow gauge... Surprised not to see the Somerset and Dorset or Great Central on there, but guess that will come if/when steam traction arrives.
For TSxxxx there are many Dutch routes, all of them created by the Dutch TS community with some rolling stock from professional developers (Chris Longhurst created some nice scenery packs as well, which he gives for free). So there is a lot of interest. It took about four years to get the first route. Due to the lack of proper tools for TSW this is not happening for TSW, unfortunately and the interest from Dutch players for TSW is not very high. We Dutch would be happy with any first Dutch route. I would suggest to build one of the awesome regional routes. That would be not so hard to build. So I think this list is a bit biased.
Exactly right, but it's even more biased than that: this is a list based on those who have talked to us either here, on Facebook, on Twitter or on Instagram, and those who responded to surveys. Those who were merrily playing the game but not part of the conversational community didn't vote. As mentioned at the time, this list is used by us as an indication of interest if we're torn between what we want to create. Some of what's listed will never be made (for various reasons) but we thought you might be interested in seeing the most popular suggestions we've received.
We were, thank you for sharing it. It would of course be near impossible to create an accurate and representative list.
Germany being one of the three major countries (DE, UK, US) is almost not on the list. But there are a multitude of amazing German routes possible. They are especially versatile because they are not as siloed as the UK/US parts.
Hence my mention of bias - this is the community's list. If the community don't tell us what we want, we don't know to include it.
I certainly have seen posts with proposed German routes in the Suggestions forum. So the question is, what is the criteria for appearing on the front of this community list? Number of threads/posts/likes?
It is the amount of support something gets, yes. Ultimately you only need to appear on the list, how high up doesn't really matter - if we're looking for a German route to consider we'll find one that has more support than others. We won't decide not to do a German route simply because there are a dozen UK routes with more "votes".
