As title states I'm currently trying to install an addon into train simulator but it doesn't have a .rwp or a .rpk file. I've copied the assets folder into the correct destination in the program files of train sim. The loco shows up on the list of trains when I go to create a consist but the actual vehicle itself doesn't show. Is there anything else I have to do besides just copying the folders over? For reference I'm installing this loco: http://game-driver.ru/load/train_si...ator_2015/vl82_006_v2_dlja_ts2016/34-1-0-2504 Thanks in advance
There's no documentation included... so I've no idea what requirements there are for it. Does it need any assets to be installed? The download is literally just dragging the assets folder to your assets folder, so it must need something to be already installed or a GeoPcDx file copying from somewhere . Can't read it though, as it's in Russian, or Polish or whatever.
Downloaded it and had a look. The rar contains an assets folder which has geopcdx files in the right place so it should work fine. Two locos VL82-006 & 007
Having downloaded the loco and extracted there is, as ARuscoe , points out an Assets folder so I installed it by copying it to the railworks/assets folder. I created a Free Roam Scenario on the test track and placed the locos on the track and added a driver. No problem so far - the 232 was added for a reason When I pressed Play the locos disappeared leaving me with the couplings only There was nothing to click on to When I went back in to Scenario Editor the Driver Icon was visible but the locos could not be selected Not sure what is causing this Peter (without the 232 I did not have the camera icon)
I used Google chrome to translate it into English and it doesn't say that it requires any more assets. So its literally just a case of drag and drop then?
Ahh thats a bit strange, may have to give this one a miss for now. Trying to find some decent Russian Locos and routes as there isn't a lot about.
I hope you have a Russian Route as the wires on the locos are set higher the European standard and the pantographs stick thru the wires. See the picture. Go to this page for more Russian locos, stock and routes. http://game-driver.ru/load/train_simulator_2015/30
I'll have a look later when I get home but I would start out by looking in the XML and making sure that the preload and consist pointers are being built correctly. If it shows in scenario editor when first placed but disappears when saved and exited that points to an XML issue to me
There is one route I've downloaded and that's the Moscow - Tula one that I am yet to test. Pointless if none of the locos work however, just going to download another loco and see if it has the same issue.
I noticed in the \railworks\Assets\RZD_PM-11\Timashevsk\RailVehicles\Electric\VL82\006\Engine folder the VL82_Engine.bin file has this section where the detail was at 10 instead of 1 like other RSC locos - I changed it to 1 but it made no difference <DetailLevelGenerationRange> <cSceneryRenderBlueprint-sDetailLevelGenerationRange> <HighestLevel_1isHighest d:type="sInt32">1</HighestLevel_1isHighest> <LowestLevel_10isLowest d:type="sInt32">10</LowestLevel_10isLowest> </cSceneryRenderBlueprint-sDetailLevelGenerationRange> </DetailLevelGenerationRange> I drove the 232 up to and coupled i t to the VL82 and I was able to enter the cab using the HD I could get the brakes off and the direction leaver to Forward using the F4 HUD but the loco would not take power and the handles did not seem to animate Lack of any info in English does not help Peter
I'd be looking in scenarioproperties.xml and converting scenario.bin to xml and making sure the refs are correct in there. As I said, if it loads fine initially but then crashes in game mode (and from then on in editor) that leads me to think about the loading of the geos after placement
So if I put any loco except this Russian electric on the track it works ok Placing this loco in a Free Roam on a piece of track you suggest I check the Scenario Properties? Why - the DB 232 loaded ok and I could drive it without a problem And the Game does not crash otherwise I could not have driven the DB 232
I wish I knew what caused this. It's a lot like I've seen happen with some other add-ons. There's a Class 86 upgrade patch (not the AP EP) which adds pantograph variants and some extra coupler bits. In the scenario editor, when you place the first one, it's invisible; after you do, the model appears under your mouse and it places OK. The first one is there, because the next one will 'butt up' to it and couple; then you can shift + click to select the consist and delete them both, and place one on its own. If you add a few, when you go to play the scenario, the first one placed is just a pair of floating couplers (but the rest are OK). I had something similar with this. The first one placed in the editor was invisible, but I could couple another to it. I did shift + click to select and delete them both, and then placed two pairs (of A & B part); all four parts appeared OK. When I clicked play, they were just floating couplers.
Quite, but I thought it might be useful to describe a similar experience - to show it's definitely not something unique to a certain set-up; and with other add-ons/mods, to show it's not something unique to this loco. Give over with the gatekeeping.
Yep, not seen it before this but have replicated it as well. Checked through the XML files yesterday and they seem to be in order as far as the scenario goes. Will have a dig again in a bit
Just spent another hour or so on this and cannot get it working, all the files are the right names, spellings, capitals etc but it just won't show after the initial input. I even tried hard swapping it in the xml and it still only showed the couplings so the error must be in something else
For the record - it's no different in 32bit; and I even dug out an old hard drive and after a bit of fighting got an old version running to try. It's different, but not better - instead of the locos appearing after the first one is placed, I just get two people floating in space, no matter how many I place. (Fingers crossed Steam won't kill my install when I swap my drives back!)
If it is not unique to this loco which other locos does it happen with? "I thought it might be useful to" ask
"If you look in post" #13... Shall we stop jousting now? There's a [really good] free 'Class 86 Improvement Patch' by James Ivell that was around before the AP 86 EP came along (and actually adds some stuff the AP EP doesn't) which gave it 4K textures without MIPs, extra ND/panto-low variants, better brake logic, and most impressively [IMO] Stone Faiveley & AEI pantographs. That doesn't suffer in *exactly* the same way as this loco, but it's very similar. The first one you place in the scenario editor is mostly invisible (I think you get a coupling link floating in space which can't be selected), but after that they appear; and you can do the same trick to select and delete the consist to get rid of the ghost one. It's been a while since I've used it, but IIRC (and recent TS updates haven't changed it), when you 'play' the scenario, the first one loaded (even if it was the third placed - having deleted a ghost and one coupled to it) is floating couplers, but the rest are OK. B
I found the patch for the Class 86 Pantographs on ATS but it would not work for me The locos appeared but the different pantos did not.
Done some more digging. In the texture files the file reference for serz points to a rom4ik\rus_trains folder, so I think whoever did the reskin didn't include the link to that. Might have a dig for that and see if I can find it
