I've started noticing recently this strange effect coming from certain fonts in TS, such as speed signs and numbers on some trains. I'm not really sure what it is but I presume it depends on if a setting is on/off? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Surely this is just dependent upon the resolution of the used textures? Have you tried adjusting your anti-aliasing settings to test this? The edge of the model will always appear sharp, but the textures that model are mapped with may still be low resolution, as they are not meant to be viewed that closely. I've no idea if AA settings will smooth a low res texture or whether they only effect the edges of objects, but if the former, then this may explain why they look soft. What route is this, and precisely where is it? If you can tell me what exact sign it is, I can check what mine looks like... it's likely that I'll have the route.
The train and the speed board have dynamic numbers - maybe a graphics setting is affecting the display of the textures?
It may depend also on the type, refresh rate and resolution of your monitor and how it is connected to your PC, ie DP, HDMI or even DVI. It could also be a magnification effect, TS uses mainly Arial fonts and they may not like being blown up! Am I getting this effect in this screenshot - no magnification? If I increas the magnification to 400 I get a similar picture to those posted above.
Yes, it does that. It can put a black halo around objects. You can see it in the screen shot above. See the black halo around the driver?
