Hi All Have made this for anyone who wants to post there pictures and videos as well as any news they have found. Enjoy.
Guess Ill kick this thread off with a few photos I shot on the 4th of November. (I'm still figuring out the settings on my Camera) -A BNSF Manifest train makes its way down to Mojave -BNSF train passing by Mormon Rocks on Cajon Pass -A pair of BNSF SD40-2s smoke it up moving cars in Barstow -A trio of Union Pacific locos leading an intermodal train in the late afternoon, between Monolith and Tehachapi
Great photos! I've been dying to get out trackside again. I haven't been out railfanning since January. I'm hoping to go out again before the year is over.
I believe I posted these in another thread some time ago, but here's some pictures from my time chasing GCRY #29 back in July of 2019. It was my first ever train chase and it was a lot of fun! I
Yeah it was a nice change of pace, as 95% of the BNSF locos out here are either Dash 9's, Evos, or the uncommon ACe.
Some quick railroad news that I wanted to share: Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 #2816 is set to be steamed up and returned to operation for a brief period next month as part of CP's virtual Holiday Train! This will be the first time in 7 years that the locomotive will operate. More info here: https://trn.trains.com/news/news-wi...o-2816-to-steam-again-for-holiday-train-video
Hay there RailFans I thought I would share some photos of my Railway memorabilia if you like them il post some more.ENJOY :^> Some Of My Old Driver Keys My British Rail Maintence PeeWee British Rail Early 90s Lamp This is just some of my Railway Stuff witch hold dear to my hart i hope you liked this post. So, Union Pacific derailed a train nearby where I live yesterday morning, luckily no one was injured, and only one car was leaking hydrochloric acid, but it was quickly contained... https://kmph.com/news/local/train-derails-near-goshen-monday-morning Not sure exactly how this happened, but it looked like it derailed entering the siding. Photos curtesy of news sources and local fire departments.
Here's a pretty interesting photo showing off UP's power on Wasatch Grade, a Big Blow Turbine with I believe 2 GE U50's
CSX has officially acquired Pam Am Railways https://trn.trains.com/news/news-wire/2020/11/30-csx-to-acquire-new-england-regional-pan-am-railways I wonder if this means we can get Maine Maritime back onto the steam store now.
Good for CSX, but that kind of stinks from an enthusiast's perspective. Pan Am has some unique operations and power. Hate to see another unique regional go. But man, I bet NS is really not happy! They've got some serious competition up in that region now.
I was going through the pictures I have saved on my computer this morning and I found these pictures that I took of some BNSF trains we passed during my trip to Arizona last summer. I'm not sure what the exact locations are since I took these as we passed them on I-40, but I would guess they were taken somewhere between Barstow and Needles, CA.
I currently have over 1300 railroad related pictures in my Flickr album if anyone is interested, https://www.flickr.com/gp/21153112@N06/gbe290
Grand Central 180 112 "James Herriot" at Sunderland waiting to depart on the 1230 to London King's Cross. Interior now looks really nice IMO.
Looks like the iconic street running of the South Shore line will soon come to an end. http://cs.trains.com/ctr/b/mileposts/archive/2020/12/17/south-shore-hed.aspx For anyone unaware of the line, here are a few examples of the street running they do on 11th Street in Michigan City.
I got to say that coal turbine is cursed. So sad to see that street running line going. In other news, (I can't find the article) NS announced it will be cutting traffic to 5 northeast destinations from its 63rd Street Yard in Chicago.
Coal turbine looks like they threw a PA on there, some behemoth generator thing, and a pedestal tender at the back. Wouldn't it just be an even more inefficient steam locomotive?
Because it actually was. The A unit was a modified Alco PA. The B unit is actually an ex Great Northern W1 locomotive with a modified turbine prime mover stuck in it.
Wow, I read once that UP stood for "Unlimited Power." This beast certainly backs that description up.
A pair of SJVR locos working near downtown Fresno. Also when you compare it to this, you realize that the Cityscape hasn't changed much in Fresno over the years....
The Rio Grande Pacific has announced it will lease the Tennessee Pass Line from the Union Pacific. http://railfan.com/rio-grande-pacific-to-buy-colorados-tennessee-pass-route/
Western Maryland Scenic Railroad C&O #1309 moved under its own power December 31st. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=458140581849827 And they have been running tests yesterday and today.
I found this interesting video on wheel replacement: This is a fantastic channel that I just stumbled upon.
So apparently Japan had streamlined one of their C53 locomotives. C53-43. Honestly something i never knew about.
An excellent documentary on an important and innovative train system that has inspired others throughout the world. I was very happy when I found this video on YouTube
This past weekend I was finally able to go railfanning for the first time since early last year! Having been itching to go for over a year now, I finally convinced my dad to drive me up to Cajon Pass to see some freight action. We weren't at all familiar with the area so the locations we went to were limited, but I still got plenty of action on both the mainline and in the intermodal yard in San Bernardino. I didn't realize at the time, but I even caught a BNSF 25th anniversary commemorative unit!
So the shutdown of Adobe Flash apparently affected a railway in China https://www.thedrive.com/news/38897...-before-pirated-copy-restores-ops?xid=fbshare
Nice catches, Buynot! Cajon Pass is a bucket list route to see. That is also great that you caught a 25th Anniversary unit, BNSF did a classy job on those. Scaletrains.com just recently announced HO models of them in their Rivet Counter line, something I hope to get one day.
I suppose this may be a suitable thread to post this interesting article. I hope I am not wrong. https://www.railmagazine.com/news/rail-features/what-the-drivers-think-of-the-66s An interesting read into drivers' experiences operating the Class 66 locos.
