    Cannes - Ventimiglia
    Untitled.png

The Cannes - Ventimiglia route would be a 66 kilometre (41 mile) route along the French Riviera, with short sections in Monaco and Italy. The route would come with stunning coastal scenery, with many tunnels along the route. Speed limits vary between 80 km/h and 130 km/h, making this a relatively slow route.

Below is a cab ride video showing the eastern section of the route from Nice to Ventimiglia

The below cab ride video shows the western section from Cannes (at 37 minutes in) to Nice

    Rolling Stock
    TGV Duplex

The TGV Duplex, already in Train Sim World 2 as part of the LGV Méditerannée route, operates TGV services along the route as far as Menton, although some services only go as far as Nice. Whilst the route speeds are nowhere near the maximum speed of the TGV Duplex, it is still an important part of the route, and could hopefully be added with relative ease. The TGV stops at only the most important stations on the route - Cannes, Antibes, Nice-Ville, Monaco-Monte Carlo, and Menton

    SNCF BB 22200
    1280px-BB22394-Antibes.jpg
The BB 22200 with Corail carriages operates TER PACA services from Marseille to Ventimiglia (Line 6) every 2 hours. These locos have a maximum speed of 160 km/h and were built in the 1970s and 1980s. It is part of the Nez Cassé series of locomotives, known for their 'broken-nose' design. As well as hauling TER services, these locos haul a weekly InterCity train from Nice to Moscow known as the 'Riviera Express' stopping at Monaco, Menton and Ventimiglia, and can also haul freight trains on the route.

    SNCF Z 23500
    1280px-TER_PACA_en_gare_de_Menton.jpg
The Z 23500 is an EMU operated by TER PACA on lines 4 (Grasse - Ventimiglia) and 6 (Marseille - Ventimiglia), making this one of the most common locos on the route. These have a maximum speed of 140 km/h and the two carriage units are usually grouped together

    Further DLC
This route could be further expanded by additional DLC, ideas could include the TGV Réseau, Thello, and other TER PACA EMUs such as the Z 26500 and Z 55500

What safety system is used? Italian (SCMT/RSC) or the French (Crocodile and KVB) or ERTMS? I guess the french one considering the rolling stock and the signalling

IIRC it's French throughout - the handover to FS takes place at Ventimiglia station.

I would love it if they made the TER Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur from Cannes to Ventimiglia. It would be the true Riviera route haha

If the full 66km route from Cannes to Ventimiglia is too long, there's serval options that can be seen from picking between major intermediate stations, The Nice to Ventimiglia section is the most scenic (and has many short tunnels so I'm hoping that provides a tiny bit of dev breathing room o focus on the scenic areas), and a cool feature is that Ventimiglia is just inside the Italian border:
Cannes to Nice: 31km/19mi (9 intermediate stations)
Nice to Monaco: 16km/10mi (5 intermediate stations)
Monaco to Menton: 8km/5mi (2 intermediate stations)
Menton to Ventimiglia: 11km/6.5mi (1 intermediate station)
    Total: 66km/41mi (22 stations)

There are several different lines and terminating stations that serve the route (Line 4 traverses the whole length with both stopping-all-stations, and express varieties).
The TGV runs hourly between Cannes and Nice, and during the summer there is an additional daily service all the way to Menton (before 2020 but they are looking to get the service back to pre covid). So, while it's not ideal, there is still clear room for some of the route to be made if served only by TGVs.
But of course adding TER stock for the line would be perfect. There would be no reason to continue past Menton into Italy without the TER trains. The stock that runs on the route also ends up in Marseille and Avignon on other lines so it would add the right AI traffic there too.
