On PC you can zoom in whilst in external camera view. The fact that this feature is not on console is outrageous! There are plenty of unused buttons that could be used for external camera zoom. Even if it was made so you have to plug a mouse/keyboard in to do it, it would still be better than nothing!
I wish there was a zoom function in external view as well. Console owners are at a huge disadvantage when it comes to taking in-game photos, simply because aesthetically the zoomed-in pictures look much more realistic than the fish-eye lens of the default camera. I agree there are many unused buttons on the controller, especially in the external view where something like the "Y" button (standing up / sitting down in cab) could be used as zoom, for example. Even as a toggle it would be awesome.
