Y'all gonna laugh at me for this... but I am suggesting the DLR for TSW. It'd be nice to supervise the passengers while the train drives itself. There could be a scenario called "Manual Control" where there's an issue along the line that requires the player to manually drive the train. How... LOL ...does this suggestion sound?
I don't even think there is an option to drive the dlr manually at all. The DLR would be cool if it wasn't fully automatic so I think this is something that would ever be made
Of all the railways in all the world you have to go and choose this one. Famed for not having a driver sat at the front. I do like watching DLR cab rides (at double speed) on Youtube.
I would love to go to London one day are ride on the DLR and sit at the front. Suggesting the dlr be in tsw2 is probably the worst suggestion anybody could make though
I seriously want it so that I can look at my favorite underground station (Canary Wharf Tube on the JLE). Yes, there is a console at front which you can unlock and drive the train from shall the computers fail.
Ohh I see. However as you stated that would only happen of there was a failure so there is no point making the DLR if it's bascially a fully automatic route. I don't think it would sell well either
I think there is. I remember seeing a video where a driver had to stay at the front to have the train "Wrong Rail" into Bank Station.
If the dlr was in the game, dtg would probably model the surrounding areas of the Docklands and other areas incorrectly
Yes there is a manual drive mode - there are controls in the cabinets at the front. It is emergency use only and will only be for short distances at low speed.
Since March, all DLRs across the network have operated with a driver. I don’t know if they have been operating in manual mode, but the console is always open. The very front and rear sets of doors have been blocked off for driver use only, making a kind of cab. It’s not sealed but gives the driver their own door and to be able to be social distanced from passengers. Of course, these are related to current times and not typical of normal operation. Also, occasionally you will see the odd DLR being operated manually (pre-COVID) - this didn’t look like due to a need, as only the odd one did this, I suspect for training/maintaining skills? I do also wonder, if trying to recreate the DLR would cause you to run into licensing issues, not with TfL but with Canary Wharf...
Funnily enough, I was actually going to suggest this. For the following reasons: 1) You could sit at the front and have a ride like a real passenger 2) You could drive it manually (yes they are all being driven manually during covid!) 3) Lots of stations, tight corners, elevated sections and tunnels 4) Amazing views of the skyscrapers and docks around the Isle of Dogs I get why some people would say this would be terrible, but I actually think it would be pretty cool and more interesting than the Bakerloo line which is half in a tunnel with no view of anything!
I'm not exactly sure, but basically, they've cordoned off the front area of the trains so that the train "guard" can have their own area and be socially distanced from the passengers. I don't know if they are always driving, but the trains I saw recently when I was in London all had people sitting in the driver's seat.
They have "train attendants" or "captains". They walk up and down inside the train and operate the doors. I think they also indirectly tell the train to start going. Not sure if they have a "go button" or if the train just goes when the doors lock.
Ah... I thought that there was no staff member and that the train starts a timer on the doors, closes them, and goes.
