Just downloaded the game and love it so far. Went through the tutorials without any problems. On my first assignment on Sand Patch grade I was supposed to pick up 8 boxcars. On my first attempt I got right next to them; but I needed to be about 8 tracks over to the other side. On my second attempt I got out and manually switched the track at one point; but I was still about 4 tracks over. How do you find the correct track that you need to be on when there are several major splits in the tracks before you arrive at the destination point? Thanks!
Hi rgarrigus, press the touch pad to bring up the map, then you can zoom in and out and see what route you will need to take.
Thanks for your help as I finally figured out how to bring up the map and zoom in to switch to the correct tracks.
Well done. You'll find SPG to be a great route but it's hard work sometimes and can be very quirky. This won't be the last time you'll need help, but ask away. Lots of us on the forum have worked our way up and down the mountain. It's probably the toughest route in the game but then that's why we like it.
Thanks for your reply Crosstie! I was successfully able to pickup and couple 8 boxcars. I am now supposed to take them back; but I am unable to move either in forward or reverse as it seems that some sort of brake is preventing it from moving even though I have the throttle set at full speed. I have checked all of the braking systems; and none of them are engaged. According to what I have read so far is that there is nothing else that needs to be done during the coupling procedure as it is automatic. Any help would be appreciated.
Make sure your MU2A valve is in Lead, and your cut-off is in "Freight" - it sounds like you're bailing off the loco brakes so you're able to run the locos ok - but the minute you couple to anything the brake pipe is still reduced which means the brakes on the wagons won't release. Should be covered in the tutorials - but very easy to forget until you get the hang of it. Let me know if this helps.
Thanks everybody for solving this for me as everything is working okay and I was able to complete the task. Yeah!
