I don't know if that has been brought up yet anywhere, but there are certain things in the UI that just drive me up the wall that should be really easy to fix.

    - The seasons and weather selection. First of all, and what is most baffling to me that it is not still not implemented, is just the game plain basic remembering my season+weather selection. Every time I finish a timetable service and I go back to the menu to select a different one, it reverts to "Spring Clear". WHY? Seriously, every time I have to cycle through them again and again. Call me crazy but I like to play with the season and weather I currently have outside of my window, why can't the game just remember my selection? At least for the current game session, please. But of course remembering between sessions would be better. I presume it'd take like 3 bytes of data in the settings registry, can we make it happen?

    - On the same issue, but less pressing, is that the season and weather should not be selected from the same linear selector but rather two drop-down boxes, imo. I don't know how much that is feasible on consoles as I don't have or use game consoles; but on PC at least - why not let us select the season and weather separately without having to cycle through every weather setting for every season? Or, at least, if they can't be separated for one reason or another, just make it one dropdown box. I'm really tired of cycling through the options with the right-left arrows instead of just selecting the one I want

    - The mouse pointer dot in the middle of the screen should fade out if the mouse wasn't moved for a few seconds. I know that I can get rid of it by pressing the right mouse button but then I have the windows mouse pointer in my way instead, so I have to move it out of the way. And then it brings up some stupid tooltip when it ends up over some control... it would really make life easier if the dot would fade out and only reappear after I move the mouse again.

    - In timetable mode, allow us to select how much time we have before the service starts. Right now it dumps you into the train like 2 minutes before departure and we have to run around setting up the train in a ridiculous hurry. That's not fun. On some routes with older trains in which you have to physically go to the back cab to set up the taillights (like the LIRR M3 for example), there is zero chance of having enough time to set up the train properly and departing on schedule. Also, an option to put the player's avatar outside of the train on the platform instead of dumping you directly into the seat would be nice.

    - A setting to have safety systems on by default. I get that casual players don't use the safety systems, but for us nerds that do - it'd be nice if there was an option to have them enabled by default. Or, at least, do the previously suggested setting to allow us more time before departure to have the time to set everything up properly.

    - The menu system for the routes can be better imo - that is in no way urgent but I feel like there is no need for so many sub-menus when each screen only has 2-3 available options. Why not let me go into timetable mode directly from the main route screen instead of going into the unnecessary "explore" submenu first? I get that it's a nitpick, so feel free to disregard this, but it would make the UI better imo :)

The weather settings don’t exactly drive me up the wall but I agree they should be remembered once you’ve set them, so you can just confirm them for the next run. It would also be nice to set your own presets to bring up from the menu as well. Having that would mean the scrolling through selection process would need to be changed even more than it does now, as simply adding your presets to a longer list would add to the frustrations you speak of.

The time the player spawns is currently quite odd. In most circumstances you don’t get enough time and then there are the HRR freight services that spawn you in for a 15 minute wait every time. One extreme to the other. With passenger services that start from a terminus, the spawn in time could be longer, or selectable as you say.

I think if you get more time to set up there would be no need for a setting for safety systems to be on all the time. I think such a setting would be problematic anyway with the variety of safety systems there are and the different preferences people might have for which ones they want on. I also think that turning them on manually is an important part of having a safety system.

The dot does drive me up the wall. Having an option to set it so it fades out after a short period of inactivity and where there is nothing to press would be fantastic. I normally turn it off but then that makes finding switches and buttons difficult. On console you need a keyboard to turn it on and off and you have to cycle through three options. It’s a pain.

I would support the idea of getting rid of the dot and have it appear if you move the camera/get up. I constantly get in the habit of trying to keep it in the middle of the tracks as it sometimes gets in the way of distant signals (normally the ones elevated above the track).

Ctrl 8 will adjust the dot.
