As many people have suggested before, I wish to see London to Brighton set in 2019. The route is around 50 miles long. This should be achievable if London St Pancras is already on the Roadmap. The reason why I am writing this suggestion, despite the vast number of times it is suggested, is because I was extremely offended by the way Sam just seemed to absolutely hate the idea (during the recent Q&A) when Matt stated that it was his most wanted route. I feel that that was either inappropriate or just good acting and the route is already being looked at. Please DTG, don't laugh at people's suggestions as it is not very nice. Remember that without the community you wouldn't get to enjoy these routes AND you wouldn't have a job. I happily will continue to buy add-ons but if you treat suggestions as a joke, that makes me doubt you want me as a customer. Just something to think about.
I'm not at all sure that Sam's response was out of disrespect, more that it is one of the most requested routes of all and as such, he's heard it all before and was laughing about that.
I'm pretty sure Sam was only joking when Matt said his suggestion and was just pretending to dislike it, as I seriously doubt he hates the suggestion. I would like to see the BML in TSW, though I agree with Matt, I think it'd be best in the days of slammers so probably in the 70s or 80s. The trains included would be VEPs, BIGs and CIGs with the Brighton Belle as a possible DLC. Depending on when the route's set, you could have VEGs (VEPs with extra luggage space) or class 73 and Mk2s for Gatwick Express services as another DLC.
Yes please. Early 1970's with Brighton Belle Pullman sets. We have not yet had Pullman stock with all its finery. But with that, it'd be too early for Gatwick Express trains which is a shame as both of these never operated together with around a dozen years between them. As I have stated before, bringing BML which should absolutely have the Keymer Junction to Lewes branch, which already links directly with ECW, would only then require the North Downs Line from Redhill to Reading to create a mega route from Eastbourne and Seaford via Brighton to London Victoria and via Redhill and Reading to London Paddington.
I’m fairly sure Sam wasn’t laughing at route suggestions from the community and certainly not one that had just been suggested by a customer. He was having a laugh with his mate near the end of a very long stream, where he had shown a lot of love and respect for the community. How you could be offended by it is hard to see, how you could be ‘extremely’ offended is even harder. It’s just a route suggestion for a game after all.
Sorry if my dismissive tone toward London-Brighton upset you. We're human on stream, and that's part of what makes those streams work. You might roll your eyes at my Liverpool-Crewe suggestion and you're more than welcome to do so, but that'd be your opinion. I was asked for an opinion in the question, so gave it. It has no bearing on whether the route will or won't be made at all. When it comes to my making recommendations for routes based on what the community say I summarise the suggestions that have been made and rank them for popularity. Whether or not I have any personal interest in the route never factors into it. In fact were I to make suggestions at odds with what players wanted I'd pretty quickly find myself not being given the opportunity to offer that advice.
Yes, it is an opinion. I personally don't like some of the routes they have created, but that won't mean they are taking it off. I think that it might be a bit too long to get into TSW2, but we did already get the long LGV, so it is possible.
