At this moment I must say that the East Coastway is my favorite... I just love the combination of running both passenger and freight services along the coastal route. Too bad you don't seem to be able to go into the Harbor siding next to the ferry though. That would really create the opportunity for some nice screenshots.
East Coast Way is my favourite at present, but maybe because it’s my local... I really like RRO and HMA. Hopefully we will get some Danish and Dutch routes which would then mean I have some more favourite routes!
I agree, but first we have to wait that this pandemic will be over, because there are strong travel limitations around the Europe.
At the moment: SKA: nice long route, high speed but also lots of other layers, so great diversity. PZB/LZB, and some freight. What's not lo love? My favorite route could be object to change once HMA gets all layers unlocked on consoles
From TSW2 and possibly from all of TSW my favourite route is Sand Patch Grade. It’s got great scenery, great trains and plenty to do. I do sometimes fall asleep on the long drives but It’s not the fault of the route. It’s a good job I never became a train driver in real life.
SKA. I can’t get enough of the German signaling and safety stuff. The ICE sounds are incredible - I typically drive on a number 3 cam placed just outside the cab so that I can fully enjoy the horn and brakes. I also love how the ICE has to share tracks with the regional and freight services.
Northern Trans Pennine. It's the route I keep coming back to after every DLC purchase because it's always a challenge, it's one of the few routes that when I complete a timetable journey I need to recuperate because it demands so much attention whilst you are running it.
Some of the new TSW2 routes are very nice, but it's still Northern Trans-Pennine for me. There's a good dollop of nostalgia of seeing coal trains with various classes of BR blue locos on their way to Fiddler's Ferry power station clunking to a halt at the bottom of my garden in the early 80's.
Koln-Aachen the signals and PZB fun, since I found The AMEX on East Coastway that's now a very close second, just a sucker for real life landmarks
GWE high speed, fast services and also stopper services with freight opportunities. Plenty of stations to blast through at speed which is the best thing (in my opinion) Also it gives us the HST the birth of modern high speed trains, every modern high speed train can account somewhat to this train. Without this unit the world's railways wouldn't be the same today
Still hooked on SPG despite some long-standing bugs which I wish would get fixed. However, Clinchfield might move to #1 when it finally gets here. I'm intrigued as to what they will do with the F7
My favorite route -- whichever one I am driving at the time - I enjoy them all and especially enjoy variety - Bakerloo and IoW for pure commuting lines - SPG for heavy American freight when I want to work with multiple units and worry about energy management, East Coast way for current rolling stock and commuting services, Tees Valley to get some classic early Diesel action, WSR for a romp in the country, Oakville sub for local freight movement, NTP for long haul early diesel passenger and freight. German routes for all the nice variety of locomotives and multiple units with freight, switching, commuting, high speed, and great scenery. TGV for really high speed.
Well the HST was derived from the ideas behind the Midland Pullman, so I'm not sure you're quite right there. The Midland Pullman is the ultimate ancestor of the modern High Speed Train. ...but yes, it is a great route.
+1 for GWE and the HST! Also love NTP to see the long lost sidings up Cheetham Hill and Miles Platting. Dripping nostalgia!
