I had TSW since 2018 and still don’t have some of the DLC routes and locos. Since the support of TSW 1 ended last year and all the DLC’s released, why isn’t there a complete edition or game of the year edition that includes all of the DLC’s? I’m surprised there’s no complete edition or goty edition. Usually when games released their last DLC, at some point down the line, games get a complete edition or goty edition with all the DLC’s. Currently, this game only have base TSW 2020, TSW 2020: Deluxe Edition, and Collector’s Edition. Why not just release TSW 2020 complete edition with all the DLC’s instead of having too many editions?
TSW is a game where you pick the routes you want. I don't know what the reasoning is behind not doing a complete edition or having season passes but it may be that this way works best for a niche product. The bundles for TSW2020 offer routes from different countries so for new players there is bound to be something they like in there (and they could then be a returning customer buying further routes individually).
Simply because they're still selling the TSW DLC routes separately as part of the preserved collection for TSW 2.
Probably wouldn’t be worthwhile in terms of sales. I, like most users, have picked up routes as and when I wanted them. I wouldn’t want to buy all these again to pick up the routes I wasn’t interested in to begin with.
If they did a complete edition of Train Simulator it would cost about £3000, so I doubt it would sell much. It wouldn't be the most expensive deluxe edition ever, though *looks at Saints Row 4: Super Dangerous Wad Wad Edition* Train Sim World's complete edition would also cost an absurd amount of money.
Alright everyone, thanks for the responses. I decided to buy tsw 2 on sale for $16.94 on psn store. I will eventually buy other routes that I’m interested at some point in the future.
The other point on this is that if you buy the TSW1 edition of a DLC then you automatically get the license for a TSW2 version of that DLC so if they sold them as an "ultimate collection" at a dirt cheap price people would be able to get a load of fully qualified and updated DLC for TSW2 for not a lot, so DTG would be losing a fair amount on those sales
The reason we don't have an "ultimate collection" is indeed because we don't expect everyone to own every single piece of DLC. Some people will of course own it all at the moment. But the intention is that you pick and choose your favorite routes and locos based on personal preference.
Yup. On sale TSW1 goes for less than any one DLC at full price, and it comes with three routes included (plus Sand Patch, but that's in TSW2)
Yeah it's a great deal when it goes on sale. I recommend setting a price watch on the Collector's Edition unless you already own those extra routes.
