Even if the lights were off, they would not create light pollution. The houses on the bakerloo line are on but at times it will still be pitch black. They should add environmental lighting though that will actually light a route though
It is dark in night in reality. Go out and check in woods. But TSW2 have problem with headlight in loco. Most train have good headlight and then you can see speed boards and similar things. I think in my Pc most routes is to light. I does not look like so in reality but maybe in consoles it is do dark instead
The issue is that some routes are too dark compared to reality and some can be pretty bright at night. There is no balance
After watching Fernbus Coach Simulator, which also uses UE4, its clear that TSW worlds have no real dynamic lighting at all. In Fernbus there’s a real distinction between bright and dazzling cities and pitch black countryside, but in TSW everything is just one brightness and looks so flat.
Adding to my above comment, you can see Fernbus has appropriate lighting based on the locations in the map. Cities are nice and bright and the countryside is nice and dark. So, why isn’t TSW like this you ask? Putting on my tinfoil hat, I believe that night time is artificially made brighter so that the developers don’t have to place down so many lights, because the world is already lit up. The issue with this is that it quite simply looks poor and doesn’t represent the real world lighting environments. No doubt that why they can’t use so many light sources will probably be blamed on ‘performance issues’ but this cannot go on and a solution needs to be found. Fernbus screenshots below:
It could indeed be that the night lighting is artificial. Fernbus does have some good lighting as well. I wouldn't be suprised if they said that it was down to performance but I highly doubt that to be the case and if it is, then we can't continue to get the same excuse over and over and a solution does need to be found. This game does not have dynamic lighting compared to other games
