So a few days ago I was exploring the interior of the ICE3 while waiting for a service to start up. As I enter the cafe/bistro car, something catches my eye- there's a click spot on the door to a compartment I've never seen before! Upon opening it up, I see that it was a very small room with storage cabinets, just a single first class seat, and a small table. There is no sign that explains what this room is, and its inclusion appears out-of-place. How come is the cafe bar not modeled, but this is? Its only on the BR403 (ICE3) and not the BR406 (ICE3M), which has a slightly different cafe car. I cannot find any information about this, so my question is simple: What is it doing there? What is its purpose? Do you really need this much privacy for dining?
I've seen that before and I have no idea what that room is for. Maybe it's another quiet zone but in the cafe section of the train
That might be it, I'm just wondering why thats even accessible to begin with. I also wanted to see if anyone else had noticed It also reminds me how DTG still doesn't really put effort into creating more of these rooms on board trains, especially something like the restroom or open-bar cafes. It just seems weird this was done instead. Such a peculiar thing...
Maybe dtg could finally model a bathroom if they can model a secret/hidden first class quiet zone on the DB BR 403 ICE 3 lol
Wouldn't be for the train controllers ? I know there is such an equivalent in the TGV near the cafe car. But I don't know for the ICE...
My cousin worked as a train driver in the ICE 3, he told me that this room is actually for the ticket control people, it isn't for famous people because some ICE 3 have a special room for important people at on side of the end or beginning of the train. There is actually no bathroom in the Boardbistro or at least not in the middle of the Board bistro
Huh, thats really interesting! I guess its true, you learn something new everyday! Thanks to everyone on here for the answers
So in Germany in long distance trains there is one person responsible for the train. That person sits in this room, making announcements for example. I don't believe they have a first class seat there, but that's just cosmetics
If I'm not mistaken, the car modeled in the HMA BR 403 is the Bordrestaurant (WRmz), not the 406's Bordbistro (BRmz)
Not exactly. The ICE3 (403) has a full-blown Speisewagen, but on the ICE3M (406) it was downgraded to a cafe. https://www.bahn.de/p/view/mdb/bahn...ls_des_ice_3_br_403_redesign_zum_download.pdf https://www.bahn.de/p/view/mdb/bahn...und_details_des_ice_3_br_406_zum_download.pdf
This is so interesting! Great to see what this is, and that it was modeled. Still find it a little weird how DTG models this, and not the cafe, but ok...? I guess...?
I suspect it's because modeling an open cafe/bar with all of its myriad bottles and bags of crisps and whatnot would mean introducing a boatload of additional 3D assets which would brutalize video performance.
I have a question to you all, do you know the game Bus Simulator 2018? Well it doesn't have to do anything with TSW but I got inspired at one thing that would perfectly fit in TSW 2, for example you can interact with people by only checking their Tickets and that's all, it would bring so much life into the game, here you can see an example what I mean Here at 9:47 you can see the ticket control
I play that game and I do love that feature. It's cool to give fines for people who "hop" (not pay the fare) on the bus. It would be cool if dovetail could implement a similar feature if they make a guard/conductor mode in tsw2 so if we were a conductor, we can fine people who don't have a ticket, check if passengers have a valid ticket, or didn't pay the fare
And it wouldn't be to hard to add because they only have to add some voice lines and a little animation and much more, it is easier to develop that than a new train
Interesting thing to note about DTG's model- on the real 406, at least according to the DB chart, the second car at the first-class end is a second-class semi-compartment coach, Bvmz (406.2). But DTG simply duplicated the first car, a first-class semi-compartment Avmz (406.1) (Also, DTG economized by duplicating the cab-car, when in reality they're different)
It is the old ICE3M because in the past these trains had 3 fist class wagons and then the Boardbistro and after that the other had 4 2 class areas, but it was in the past now they update these trains because less people actually drive First class and more drive 2nd class
