Honestly we are nearly 3 years into TSW, and the door situation hasnt been authenticated.
Ive probably mentioned this before, but i heard someone mention it in their video on YouTube, so that jogged my memory, but seriously why is that when we release/open/unlock the doors on every dlc, all doors open?
In real life, only the bakerloo line operates like that, maybe the M3/7, but im not too sure as im not from the US (and havent youtubed it yet either), but the 166/43, 377, ice3, and probably all the other german trains, the doors unlock but have to be opened by a person.

Can we authenticate that please DTG, its a little bit fake, like so many other small things that i wont touch on right now.

    Lolz.

This and SDO would be greatly appreciated.

The only trains who don’t have the button for passengers to open the doors is the 72 Stock on the BKL and the M3/M7 on LIRR. All/Most other trains have the button on the outside of the train for passengers to open the doors, why hasn’t this feature been added in yet? I’m sure most of us would love to see it in the game.

I real life the doors only get unlocked and passengers have to open it, they could just to make it more realistic only let some Doors open but not all of them to stay realistic

Basically the trains that have doors that all open and close simultaneously are the 1938 Stock (yes they have buttons but as far as I've seen on YouTube, they're barely used), 1972 Stock, M3, M7, and the Gallery Cars. Others have passenger operated doors. It will certainely be very nice to have that although I won't be dissapointed if that's never added as I consider it more of a detail.

Personnally I prefer controlling the doors myself but that's just preference. Also on French and German railways, it's always the driver who controls the doors, whether there is a guard or not, I've learnt that recently

They don’t have a guard, but passengers are able to press the button on the door to open it.

On gwe hst services were operated by a guard, but were made redundant when the 800’s were introduced

For me, this is would be a nice improvement, especially on slam door stock where all the doors opening at all stations is quite unrealistic. I agree also that an AI guard would be great for immersion, with two on the buzzer for ready to start.
GWR still have guards on the 800s that operate the doors (though I'm not certain if they still open them or if the driver does).

This is actually very useful and there are very many variants of a guards role per train, E.G a class 450 and 444 desiro uses ASDO to prevent doors off the platform from opening and it needs to be operated from the rear of the train in the passenger compartment, but trains like the 166 and 377/4 use guards in the rear cab

377's also have guard panels in some of the door sections. I think there is two per coach (One either side) but I may be wrong.

On the m3/m7 the driver does not open/close the doors. A conductor in the middle of the train does. DTG should add an ai conductor like world of subways 4 has

Thats my thing about this game, so much realism is lacked.

Yup. Even regular content creators have to get involved in the TSW Forums.

What lol? They have NOT been made redundant. The guards, or train managers which is their job title, are still on the majority* of the Class 800s. The door operation is Driver releases the doors and Guard closes the doors.

    Train arrives into station
    Driver releases the doors
Guards closes all doors apart from local door (dispatchers are usually present for the dispatch process)
    Guard then closes local door
Guard gives 2 on the buzzer
Driver returns 2 on the buzzer and train continues

The only difference is that the guard doesn’t release the doors as they did on the HSTs/Mk3s.

*The are a few exceptions though: the Oxford and Newbury fasts don’t have a guard on them. The GWR (Ex-London Thames Valley) drivers have DOO in their contract. Whereas High Speed Service (HSS) drivers don’t (HSS is now ringfenced). It is possible in the medium to long term future that drivers will be expected to have full door operations particularly as HSS reduces in size due to retirement and GWR links pick up more “inter city” work. GWR top link at Paddington have already started to learn up to Bristol.

The 166s cascaded to the West County have been modified so there is a door panel on the last set of doors. And I agree with you on the point that there are so many variants of dispatch methods:

    1. Guard has full door operation of the doors. E.g. HST OR
    2. Driver releases doors, Guard closes doors. E.g. Class 800 OR
    3. Driver releases doors, Guard tells driver when to close the doors by giving 1-2 on the buzzer. E.g. Class 166 on the Reading to Guildford/Gatwick Airport Route (North Downs line) OR
    4. Driver has full door operation of the doors. E.g. Class 166/387 on the London Paddington to Reading line.

If the driver does has full operation of the doors, how do they dispatch:

4a. Self dispatch- by use of DOO monitors. OR
4b. CD (Close door) indicator. OR
4c: Dispatcher gives them the signal when to close doors.

Then of course, you’ve got the variety of how the Right Away to the driver is given:

    5. 2 on the buzzer from the guard. E.g. HST/800. OR
    6. RA indicator. E.g. At Reading/Paddington station to DOO trains. OR
    7. Dispatcher gives green flag. E.g. Slough station to DOO trains.

    Then you’ve got other features:

    8. Manual SDO- this could be done by the driver or the guard
    9. Automatic SDO
    10. DOO monitors in the cab/station so the driver can see the Platform train interface
    11. Train Management System which could assist with points 8+9 as well as giving other information on doors
